Yes, this was a dark volume/season. Characters died and that was a massive cliffhanger. It was extra rude for people that watched the show live, because the last episode aired in March 2021. Vol 9 didn't premiere until Feb of this year. 2 years later! Don't worry, we're definitely not gonna make you wait that long. Just so you know, Vol 9 is the most recent volume in the canon, so once you watch it you'll be up to date! Also, it's not quite as long, at almost 3 hours. But...there is another little thing that came out soon after vol 9, which we also plan on selecting. If you heard of it, you know already. Please people in the comments, don't spoil it if she doesn't know.

2023-07-21 23:13:28 rejoined your patreon just at the right time to catch this! excited to see your reaction to vol 8 - esp excited to see you get to vol 9 eventually. rwby is pretty dark from this point on, so fair warning. be glad you don't have to suffer through the TWO-YEAR hiatus that we had to suffer between volume 8 and 9, because holy shit, that was a painful wait.

EDIT: watching this entire volume as it came out was a wild, mildly traumatizing ride knowing we would have to wait an - at the time - indeterminate amount of time to see the next volume questioning how they were going to resolve this and what it all meant. losing penny for a second time was devastating, especially as this time it feels FAR more definitive and final. but yes. we have pretty major character deaths this volume. this was the first time in a while it felt like there were high stakes for our characters, and boy, it was a lot. anyway. had a lot of fun watching your reaction, shan!
