Patrick - Excelsior

I liked this two-part episode. I was meh on monster of 2-weeks (lol). I liked the idea, they built them up as real scary then they get killed by a haircut, meh. The mid-season break occurred between these 2 episodes. So, I feel the whole reason they put it in was to portent something ominous for the second halve of season. I wish they could have given us more Nick’s mom updates in this one. They teased it last episode then nothing here. I really liked the Monroe family stuff here. The classic movie it was paying homage to is “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”. A 1967 movie about a girl that comes home from college to tell her parents she’s getting married. But drama ensues when the parents find out that the girl, who is a white, introduces her black fiancé. Much of the Monroe storyline parallels this movie (except for the hairy coat dudes). Even them all sitting down to dinner at end is hinting at the “coming to dinner thing”.
