Very good reaction. Agree Cole was a bit over the top. However, I liked the character but mainly his interactions with Chuck. He viewed Chuck as an equal not as someone who he had to babysit/protect which sometimes it feels like with Sarah and Casey. I am really looking forward to your reactions to the rest of this season. The rest of the season has some of my favorite scenes from the entire series. Liked the end scene with Chuck and the Tron poster reveal. It shows as you said him being a spy and not being passive with everything happening to him. He is trying to find his own way out. I can understand your frustration about Chuck/Sarah. Unfortunately at this time on TV show runners/writers were all trying to avoid the Ross/Rachel problem. During the 2000’s I remember a few different writers/show runners talking about how they worried about getting their main couple too soon and having the same issues like Ross/Rachel. For some reason they hadn’t realized that you could still write compelling couples without having to break them up and put them back together over and over.

Even thought they managed to "re-create" the intersect doesn't mean they know how to make it. It could mean they knew how to rebuild it or reverse-engineer it, but the underlying technology could still be out of reach for the CIA. So if this guy is one of the OG creators of the intersect, he sure could be important, at least for Chuck (in terms of getting it out). The last 15 minutes of this episode are fantastic, though. The reveal with the poster in the end gives me goosebumps.

It was a product of its time. For this show, though, the will-they-wont-they actually makes sense, even if it feels drawn out at this point. Cole being over the top is 100% the point, though. He is portrayed as this super bad-ass, caring ladies-man (obviously way too forward, but we wouldn't want him around for 10 episodes). When Sarah then rejects him we take an important step towards her (and us) realizing how important Chuck is to her.

Also, last thing i'll say is that I think the will-they-wont-they gets worse to watch and experience when you watch an episode a month. I didn't experience the show like that the first time, but it certainly must feel a lot longer then.
