Content

Hey!

I like to try my best to give you guys as much content as I can while also trying to include the community the best I can.

Right now I do that by reading comments on the regular shows and creating a poll at the end of the week to find out your favourite reactions for that week.

Is there anything you're feeling unhappy about here? Anything you feel I can improve on?

I'm always looking for things to improve on so please, let me know!

I like collaborating with other responsive people, it's quite interesting. I don't know how others can support it or not, but I'm mostly satisfied with everything.

I can’t pinpoint anything major to improve upon. I will say that reading the comments definitely offers more of an interactive experience. Perhaps having Q&As about season finales? Then again, people can just ask you directly in the comments section.

Seeing as I doubt you have a working time machine I can use to travel to the end of the year, allowing myself to watch all your arrowverse reactions, that have released during that time, at once, no I'm good as is. 👍🏻

I'm perfectly happy with how things are, and zero changes suits me just fine, but I have been thinking about this and have a few comments. 1. This is a me thing, but I hear others comment from time to time about not being able to catch up on reactions because there are so many. Now this is a good problem to have I think - lots of content is great. But if your audience feels overwhelmed by how much there is, they might not be watching it. This can also reduce hype for a big episode if it gets released in the middle of a batch of other episodes. For me personally, I'd prefer 2 episodes per day at most. 2. I didn't think I would, but I grew to like the comments at the start. Generally I like a quick intro, but the comments have been great. I like hearing trivia about the episode, callbacks I've missed, etc. It gives your audience a voice too, which is really nice. I've never been much for a long intro, but this works for me. This is a good example of a positive improvement you've made in the last little while! 3. Not a huge deal, but I'd like to see Selections fit better into the month - ie: release at the end of the month, request picks at the start of the month. This is mostly about ensuring picks and releases happen in the same month in case someone leaves that tier never to be seen again. We'd want them to at least get their pick released before leaving. 4. Lastly I think maybe your outros need a bit more in them. I don't like big long 3-hour episode dissections and reviews, but I do like hearing what you thought about what you just watched. I had an idea for selections where the person could submit 2-3 questions or trivia tidbits that you would look at during the outro and could comment on. It can be tough thinking of stuff to comment on, so these little prompts could help. Doesn't really work for non-selections though.

Zoot's 4th point above is a good idea for post-reaction thoughts. Having a few questions provided by patron fans of the show, that you read and respond to after watching the ep could be a good way to have something to say about the ep. If it takes time for you to think about what happened in the ep before talking about it, that may mean doing that bit a little while later and adding it to the end of the reaction, or posted as a separate vid? i dunno it was Zoot's idea! :P

Patreon has an option to Follow a content creator you are not currently a Patron of. This allows you to get notified of and see posts that are public. You should make your weekly Schedule posts public so anyone following you can see them. No point hiding the "weekly menu" behind a paywall where only the existing Patrons can see it. :)

Tommy

I actually like that theres alot of content because i can watch it anytime i want and it lets shan catch up on shows faster.

I like the idea of reading comments, but because some people tend to be kind of verbose, the segment gets kind of long. it might be better to do something like what Dakara does, and pick one comment instead (maybe have the mods pre-select it if you still want to otherwise read it live). she also reads it at the end, I guess so people who aren’t really into the comments at all can more easily skip it. but honestly, I’d be less inclined to skip the comments if I knew it wasn’t going to take 30 minutes to get through them.

Luis Garcia

For some people who choose/want to skip the comments at the start of a reaction, you could maybe provide a time stamp for when the comments finish. I personally enjoy listening to you go over the comments, so this could be a way to accommodate for those that want to get straight into the reaction.

Luis Garcia

I would actually like for comments reading to be done for non-weekly shows. I was thinking that for binge and release shows, you could read the comments of season finale of the previous season with the reaction to the first episode of the following season. That way you could discuss people's thoughts on the previous season.

Steve Frank

This is from the YouTube side. I watched all your Buffy and AoS reactions on YouTube, and it would be helpful if your playlists were broken up by seasons (or pairs of seasons in the case of universes that you react to simultaneously). Watching season 7 of Buffy required me to scroll through 10 other seasons to get to the content I was looking for.

Zoot!

I like that idea of reading the finale comments of the previous season. Its a way of doing a season q&a without actually doing a whole video for one. Also a good reminder of what was going on before starting the next season :) Other ways to use comments could be before starting a brand new show, have a quick post asking for pre-show comments (keeping careful of spoilers) and read those before a 1x1.

The problem I can foresee with that is, people commenting will complain that their comment isn't being read and only so and so's was.

El

That isn’t (or shouldn’t be) Shan’s problem. The point of comments is mostly for us to communicate here. Shan choosing to read one particularly insightful one would be extra content. Because honestly, I think now some people are abusing the system by writing huge walls of text knowing she’ll read all of them. Having the mods pick one would force people who wanted their comments read to actually say something interesting.

Brandon Wiesner

I see your point and agree. A lot of the extra long comments can be annoying, as they tend to generally go on without saying anything particularly compelling. But I'm just saying, I wouldn't want to feel like anyone is being skipped over and I would think that Shan wouldn't want that either.

ReeN

I know a few people who have playlists for every season. I personally don't like it. If you have watched Season 1 and want to start Season 2 you have to find the next playlist first. It's really annoying. And it's hard to see what shows the person has reacted to if there are too many playlists. One playlist per show is way easier than x playlists per show. At least in my opinion. Playlists for shows: 10 shows = 10 playlists = easy to see what shows the reactor is reacting to + easy to find the playlist you want to watch Playlists for seasons: 10 shows = (for example) 35 seasons = 35 playlists = chaos Of course thats just my opinion.

Tommy

I dont mind comments, i like that i can say anything and shan can read it next episode, it feels like shes communicating with everybody but you can also skip the questions if you want so its a win win in my book.

Zoot!

I see both sides of this, and it mostly boils down to the app you're using to watch youtube. Some are horrible for scrolling playlists, others are not. I prefer by season because in most apps, scrolling through 100+ episodes takes a long time to get to the episode you want. Then again, I will use the search feature in those cases anyways.

Mike Simonton

Honestly, I like it as is. I keep up with YouTube pretty easily. I don't keep up with patreon arrowverse because I'm watching it in order in the year lists. Once I catch up to wherever you are in arrowverse, I'm planning on Buffy/Angel. Other stuff after that, rewatches in patreon because I've already watched some of it in YouTube. Agents of Shield, for example. Just don't overdo it, especially when you are sick.

Tommy

I just thought of something you could do! You know how you give a brief statement in the description of your youtube videos? I think it would be cool if you did something similar on patreon uploads. Give brief feelings on the episode.

Michael Carrion

I think your videos are awesome and perfect I just have one suggestion, now I know you hate zombies but the walking dead is so much more than that. It's like they are the background of the shoe. It has drama comedy heartbreak love shows you how people react in a world that is in chaos. I'll watch it with you if you want lol. That's it.
