I just caught up and watched the Painkiller episode (which was horrible). Khalil is actually 20 years old at this time. Jennifer is 19. I don't know why she is still in high school. Khalil is definitely the best thing this show had going for it. It's too bad his spinoff was in some high tech city which never had a chance of being picked up. Too much of the budget would go to the bad CGI. To answer your question though, Painkiller was the only character from Black Lightning that was going to be in the show. With Jennifer's actress changing I doubt they would have even had her make a guest appearance. Episode 8: I would guess that they told the school that Jennifer moved away to live with someone else. That can be explained away as being because of things that happened during the War for Freeland. Something is up with Jennifer. She is acting differently and it's not just the new actress. I think Lynn figured something out too. I'm glad the writers decided to go with the stupid trope of having a character keep useful info a secret (ugh). Am I wrong for feeling bad about the woman Gambi is duping? I don't even know if she is good or bad. It just seems wrong.

It did feel a bit odd having the wannabe League of Assassins guy start popping up in the middle of the episode. It felt like they cut a scene from earlier in the episode, maybe showing him find that person he killed. Yeah, I feel like this show sometimes has some abrupt endings.
