Just a point of clarification. 1. That is NOT a goatee on Teal'c it's a Soul Patch. Why is it blonde? To match his gold thinga-ma-bob on his forehead. (Teal'c be stylin). 2. You aske what would the inside of the Asgard ship look like? Orange shag carpeting, Guinness beer posters and a dvd shelf with every episode of Macgyver. 3. Anise also means "Taste like black licorice." (bleh) 😉

If you could have one superpower for a limited time, and it would start weakening/failing and eventually stop altogether but you won't know when, what superpower would you want?

Mark Chrisco

If you didn't know, Vanessa Angel was cast as Xena-Warrior Princess only to drop out of the pilot 2 days before filming was to begin. In desperation the producers screen tested the actresses hired to portray the extra roles of Xena's Amazon followers. Lucy Lawless was chosen and the rest is history.

No offense, really, you are a great reactor, but have you considered stopping SG-1 reactions? I remember when you reacted to Buffy and Supernatural, how your reactions were. With SG-1 you look half miserable half bored. 18:13 - this is the standard facial expression. Maybe switch to a show more to your liking? Don't torture yourself.

Tony

When people say "no offense" it usually means they're about to say something offensive. She's enjoying the show from what I can gather. Saying she should probably stop watching is not a comment she enjoys hearing, not every episode of every show is a winner it doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy the show. If she wasn't enjoying the show she would have quit a long time ago and also she frequently references Stargate on her other shows these days.

Scarlett Monrow

I have been her fan from her first reactions and I've been a fan because she is very emotional, connected to characters, great sense of humor and very passionate. I see nothing of this in her SG-1 reaction. I also know on the polls that SG-1 reactions are usually on top of "best this week". So maybe she doesn't want disappoint her fans. That's why I wrote this comment. And "no offense" means - I am going to say something unpleasant, but I'm saying it with your best intentions in mind.

Tony

The amount of times that she's been humming along to the intros and laughing when O'neill said something dumb. Besides again.. She frequently references the show during other recordings. Why would she do this if she wasn't the least bit invested. She even added a personalized chibi of herself as Teal'c to the line-up on Discord / her merch store. Look, when I first selected this show as a pilot I NEVER expected her to like it.. It took well over a year before she herself suggested I'd pick it and see what happens and even then I was hesitant. And then at some point after several months picking the show she suggested to do more of it as a regular show. This was her own choice. She liked it enough to add it to the schedule and here we are 4 seasons in. She's dedicated to seeing more and very recently stated she's looking forward to Atlantis even though she recollects having only vaguely seen tiny bits of the pilot when passing by the lounge room when her sister and dad were watching it and doesn't remember much at all of it. Yet still is looking forward to it. If she wasn't interested, then why even mention it. I told her when she first suggested to pick it as a regular show, and I'm still in full support of this to this day, that if this show isn't to her liking then she can quit at any time, it wouldn't be the first time she quit a show. But the thing is she does enjoy the show as is so clearly shown. I'm sorry her reactions aren't up to your standards. No offense, But telling her to stop watching is not a thing she appreciates no matter how good your intentions might be, Not every episode will have her laughing out loud or be heavily invested, and me, as a fan of the show I can say without question there's episodes where I zone out and shudder at the thought I have to edit the episode later on. Sometimes she's intent on trying to follow what's being said and won't be reacting the way some people hope. This does not give anyone the right to tell her not to watch something, She'll watch whatever she wants to watch.

Tony

Also I just want to add: I've finished editing this episode earlier today and had to cut some stuff out of it so it would stay under 20 minutes. (the max we're allowed on a YouTube cut) If this isn't indicating that there's interest then I'm not sure what kind of reaction you're looking for.

Scarlett Monrow

I'm not sure what country you are from, but thankfully, I'm from a country where we have such thing as freedom of speech, meaning that I have a right to tell pretty much anything to anyone. But to the point, I didn't tell her to not watch it, I suggested it, if she wants to, respectfully. All your explanations are rooted just in SG-1, so I'm guessing you haven't seen her earlier reactions. You should - then maybe you would understand where I'm coming from. As to why she would continue watching: of course Shan makes her own choices, but they are affected, to some degree, by subscribers. And SG-1 has been a favorite on the polls for a while. If there was no money or no input from us involved, I wouldn't write this message. Now, I really like SG-1 and personally would not be thrilled to lose those reactions, but I just wanted her to know that if she doesn't like it (and it seems like that - hence the message), she can stop, with no hard feelings (I don't usually like to speak on behalf of a group, but I believe other fans want her to be happy during reactions).

Tony

I've been here for 3 years, I have helped her with a lot of things, the least of which are editing, site creation/maintenance, occasional graphic design, but many more things behind the scenes and I continue to strive to help her more and more to the best of my ability and with doing so I speak to her every day. There is nobody here who even comes close to knowing her better than I do and I can assure you, she's still invested in the show more than she sometimes might lead you to believe. If she weren't, I would be the first to know and in that case I'd honestly be suggesting the same thing as you regardless how much I like the show. She knows this. Because as her closest friend there is nothing I want more than for her to be happy. And contrary to what you believe, I've been through the ups and downs with her, I know full well there are most decidedly some shows where she's had a hard time getting through them but never has stargate been one of them.

Zach Hershman

1) That's not what Freedom of Speech is. 2) Tony has been Shan's editor for a long time. He is also friends with her. I'm positive he has a lot more insight into how Shan feels than you do.

Scarlett Monrow

Fine, let me be more direct. I don't know you, Tony and I don't want to get to know you. My message is for Shan, not you. If you want to voice your opinion as a fan in this comment thread - fine. But don't speak for her and expect me to listen, especially after my well-meant message was met with aggressive tirades from you. I'm done with this conversation.

If my opinion on this matter meant anything... and it doesn't, it's just my opinion... I believe that Shan is enjoying this show. How much is she enjoying it? Don't know, and quite frankly it doesn't matter as long as she is enjoying it! I wouldn't want her to react to a show that she didn't enjoy watching, especially if it was one of my favorite shows. But then again, I don't think that Shan would continue reacting to a show (or start reacting) if she watched the pilot and/or the first 2-3 episodes and didn't like them. I have seen at least a couple examples of shows that she doesn't really enjoy, though she gave them a shot, so doesn't react to them. Now, everyone has their own preferences and likes...so sometimes she will not like shows that we like and vice versa. We just have to appreciate the fact that she reacts to SO MANY shows that we all should have quite a few shows that we enjoy watching her react to.

So, just a little bit more Stargate trivia... Dan Shea, the actor that plays Sgt Siler, is actually a stuntman. Yes, he does some acting here and there, but he is much more prolific as a stuntman/stuntdouble and actually does a lot of stunt double stuff on both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. He's also a stunt coordinator! So when you see O'neil knock him of the edge of the stairs it was probably really him doing his own stunts :)

Tony

I'm not one of her fans as I so clearly pointed out and I am not speaking for her. I'll leave you with this and you can figure it out from there, whenever someone has suggested for her to stop watching a show, and this is not the first time nor will it be the last, It has never been met with positive feelings. No matter the intentions behind that persons message.

Zoot!

If I'm completely honest, there is some truth in this thread. Lots of nonsense too (freedom of speech argument without knowing what freedom of speech actually is lol)), but some truth. Feedback, even negative, can be beneficial if you sit back and really look at what's being said. I'm way behind on Stargate so I have zero specific comments there, but I've felt this way before about other things. My personal thought is that it's due to having too many shows at the same time. It makes it harder to digest and enjoy an episode before moving onto what's next. Just my 2 cents.

ReeN

I had the same thought for a while. I know other reactions from Shan and i had the feeling that she watches Stargate more to please the subscribers and not because she really likes it a lot. That's just my feeling while watching the reactions. Of course this feeling can be wrong. @ Shan If you like Stargate, simply ignore these comments. Everything is fine. No need to act more interested or something. Don't act over the top hyped, if you don't feel this way. That would be really bad. But if you don't like Stargate, i think it would be better to stop and find a show that you enjoy more. Don't feel forced to watch it because of your subscribers or because of Tony. @ Tony: Sorry, but Scarlett was talking to Shan and not to you. As Scarlett already mentioned, it feels like you try to speak for Shan and expect us to accept your answers as hers. But these aren't your reactions. You are not the person we are here for. Why don't you just let Shan read the comment and make her own decision. There was really no need for you to start a discussion or to defend her / speak for her. There wasn't even anything offensive in the comment of Scarlett, so i really don't understand your problem.

Tony

No problem here, I was just speaking from experience, there's been loads of people who have made these types of comments and each time it's not received well by her. But no worries, Shannan will explain next week. I hope you all still try to enjoy her reactions. Have a nice day. :)
