Yes, they did once talk about Leviathan origin. Yes, it was very unremarkable. That describes them as villains. Nope, IMO they are worse villain in Supergirl. My least favorite season.

I will be honest I didn't watch any of your reactions for this season of Supergirl after the episode with Mxyzptlk as like Patrick i found this to be my least favorite season and it would have way been too painful to watch over again after not too long after seeing it the first time, and yes 2.5 years is way too soon for this season.

A list of issues I had: William as a love interest for Kara no-one asked for it, oil and water have better chemistry. Leviathan were just underwhelming after the crossover, had potential early on. Another mind control story they did that already didn't need it again. and finally How dare Brainy hurt my girl Nia like that, No-one hurt Nia and gets away with it. Best part of this season: When Kara tells Lena if she wants to continue to go with what her and Lex are planning then she " will do everything in her power to stop them, just like any other villain." That whole episode actually was my favorite, so well done.

Well, wasn't it just better with Lena on the side of the Super Friends and Brainy helping his team and not Lex?! Now that we are kinda back to status quo, you can forget this season ever happened))) This is def the worst season, and to put out this clunker after season 4, arguably their best season!!!
