It's been great rewatching this with you and I'm happy to see that you are enjoying it. This season took me a bit to get into at first because everyone was split up and I wanted everyone to get together again the whole time. But on rewatch, I really liked all the backstory and delving more into the characters, like you said, not just the main ones. It might be a little while before we can request vol 5 but it's good to know that you are getting invested in the characters and storylines. I look forward to when we can do some more.

Ah, Volume 4. This is when the animation gets an even bigger upgrade and it looks amazing (it only gets better from here). Everything is so much smoother and they've figured out how to make hair, shadows and liquids look good and are able to do more detailed outfits for our characters, hence the outfit changes! (Plus, also narratively it works because like Ren says in ep 1, they're growing out of things, and it establishes that they're not the same naive kids they were back in Volume 1.) This volume is a bit of a polarized one amongst fans, as a lot of people don't like the fact it's a lot of walking around and everyone being separated for the majority of the volume. I do like seeing more of Remnant and the girls' families and home lives, though. We didn't get to see much of it, if any aside from Beacon back in the first three volumes. For me, it has the weakest theme song, as it's less catchy for me, unlike the previous three volumes' intros. The volume as a whole? I'm pretty neutral on it. I don't hate it like a lot of people do, but it's not my favourite. Though, of course, my opinion of that could change once I get through this whole reaction as it has been a little while since I first watched it and my opinion on it likely has been coloured by the negative reaction other fans had to it - I'll get back to you on that. Edit: Okay, I actually liked it a lot more than I remembered liking it upon my first watch. Learning more about everyone's backstories was fun (as sad as they were) and getting introduced to Weiss' family and Klein (who in case you didn't clock, is based on the seven dwarves which is very fitting and intentional as Weiss is obviously based on Snow White) was cool - pun intended - and this season definitely made me appreciate Weiss, a character I already loved, a whole lot more. I'm very glad you like Qrow, too, he's definitely a fan favourite and his and Ruby's relationship is very sweet. It's fun seeing Ruby's dynamic with Team RNJR, and seeing how they work together as a group, as strange as it is that Ruby never interacted with the other main girls - it's more than made up for next volume.
