I agree that the accents didnt match up. They kept saying South African but Adam Croasdell (Hook's dad in Once Up On A Time) is South African and his accent sounds nothing like New Zealand or Australian

This, plus some other things, have lead me to believe that this is what a Grimm's real power is. The ability to adapt themselves to match or compensate for whatever a Wesen does to them. It's also why he seems stronger than a normal human now and why Wesen are so afraid of him. Also why him mom, who is much older, seems to be even faster and stronger. Grimms are constantly being exposed to new Wesen and thus constantly collecting small powerups along the way. This one is more noticeable than most.
