Great reaction. I was looking forward to this for awhile since I knew your feelings about Envar and Keith Mars (yes I know not his real name but I can spell Keith without needing to double check my spelling). Yes he is Elias that is what they were getting at. This episode has such a great twist with the reveal of Elias and most people don’t see it coming till the last moment. I would have more to say about Elias but fear it may veer into spoiler territory. Will say this show does have many great guests stars that you would know from other reactions. I am really looking forward to you reacting to more of the show hopefully. Really hoping the show will get sponsored at least through the end of season one as there is one particular guest star yet to come that I really want to see your reaction to.

The machine only detects premeditated murder, because people plan it out and speak over phone/email about it. This show focuses on New York but yes there are numbers for people all over the US.

The machine will not detect random acts of violence or the kind of "heat-of-the-moment"-murders. Like the person above me commented, it will only detect murders that the machine understands will happen based on the information.
