I absolutely adore this movie as well as the TV show its based on. Yeah it's cheesy but it's a representation of Batman of the comics at the time. Besides some times you need a little cheese in your life. To answer your question the show was also in colour. If you want to see somthing wild (I only half recommend) watch the 1943 Black & White Batman Movie serial.

"With the way the world is and all, don't you think we outta...try to improve on those factors? Try to reshuffle them a little?" Holy master race, Robin!

Your reaction to this was an absolute delight.

People either forget or don't realize that Batman '66 was a deliberate and sharply-written straight up comedy, and they'll often dismissed it as just camp. The most relatable thing to Batman '66 in the modern era was Amazon's The Tick.

Thank You Very Much Shan for doing this. I know its a bit out of your usual era limit. LOL I LOVED your plot synopsis at the end. BTW. The elderly women you asked about was Aunt Harriett. The producers (being homophobic) were worried about the appearance of two young men living alone together with only a man-servant so they decided to add a "motherly" figure to the household to mitigate this. How it did that I'll never know. (She was then added to the comics as well).

2021-10-24 09:29:26 It's a shame you're exposure to Catwoman here is Lee Meriwether, not that she was bad. The regular Catwoman for the TV show was Julie Newmar, now SHE was the quintessential Catwoman for this show and era. Unfortunately she was unavailable when the movie went into production between Seasons 1 & 2. But she returned to the show for Season 2, after the movie. She then left after Season 2, and the role was recast with Eartha Kitt for the 3rd and final season.

I remember watching the reruns of the series as a kid. The movie follows the same formula. It was made for kids and families. These times were a far cry from the Dark Knight that we know Batman as today. It's great for nostalgia but like you said, it's campy af! I did like seeing Burgess Meredith's (Penguin) insults. It was great foreshadowing for his Rocky days. And was that Hector Salamanca on the World Council?...Ok no it's wasn't. But it looked a lot like him. Anyway, your reaction made this one a lot more enjoyable than watching it on my own post TDK Batman.
