IMO, Chernobyl is one of my favorite shows i have seen in the past year. I can see why you weren’t huge on the first episode especially since you had never heard of the disaster before

It's definitely a change to see someone react to this show that isn't even aware of the basics of Chernobyl. It will make for quite the experience assuming you end up reacting to all 5 episodes. It truly is a fantastic mini-series.

It's so weird to see someone react to the show who has never heard of it. I was in Primary school when I first heard of the disaster. I live in Austria which is not that far away, and Chernobyl is the reason nuclear powerplants are not allowed here, and yet still every school has iodine pills stockpiled and every parent has to sign a paper, that their kids are allowed to take them, in case somewhere a nuclear powerplant explodes. I haven't seen this show before, but I was just sitting there absolutely horrified, the whole time so it looks pretty well done to me. Also it seems weird to me that they wouldnt teach you the dangers of nuclear power plants (at least the worst case in the 80ies, no idea how safe they are now) at school, but google told me you dont have nuclear power plants, so I guess you wouldnt need to know?

This people aren't dumb,they thought that it's just a fire accident, not a big deal and government doesn't help. Actually government doesn't care at all about people. And it's not changed even now, terrible things happened in russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and our presidents are horrible (I'm kazakh and as well as every post Soviet country in Kazakhstan we are well educated about Chernobyl). In Belarus situation is horrible for a year(I'm sorry it was too long, I don't even remember when that happened), president tortured and killed so many people and he is still a president. People all of the world knows that he is dictator,but he is in charge anyway,my favourite youtube blogger was tortured and he have a video about that but you know,who cares. If things are like that now in 21st century what you think about 80s? I remember from history that your neighbors can tell the police that you're a spy and then you are dead,they didn't listen your side. So in Chernobyl they just locked people,said that it was just a fire on the roof and pretended that it wasn't a big deal. Thanks to this you can't go to pripyat even now,you can go to Chernobyl it's fine here. People suffered from cancer,changes in dna, mutations (not just people but animals too). I'm glad that hbo did that, everyone should know about this situation,hbo did a great job unlike russia. Russians dropped movie last year about this and it was a big scandal,cuz it was terrible
