Omg Spaceballs! 😂 I love this movie. I was just quoting this today

The oddest reaction to Spaceballs that I have ever seen! But hey, like all film, comedy is purely subjective!

Not gonna lie. Disappointed you didn't like it. Its definitely "dumb" comedy but that is intentional and I guess it isn't for everyone. It does help if you get all the references it makes but oh well. Thanks for watching it though!

I've seen this a few dozen times. The jokes are mostly cringe or not funny. That's fair - it's a very Mel Brooks style humor, but not as sharp as Get Smart (because Mel had more creative control for Spaceballs?). John Candy and Rick Moranis from SCTV are perfect for this movie, sort of a Canadian network broadcast variation on Brooks... What if C3PO was voiced by Joan Rivers? If that doesn't make you laugh... well, this won't be your thing. Bet you can't make it through a full episode of SCTV in one sitting.

Paul Gibson

The bad jokes are the whole point of the movie. I have to be really in the mood to watch Mel Brooks comedies and I couldn't imagine being able to watch them while not understanding the references

I normally don't go for parody type of stuff but...it's Mel Brooks. Spaceballs is a classic. I understand though, you didn't grow up in that era. So, the humor is understandably cringey. Well, most of us had fun rewatching it anyway.

Clearly, this isn't for everyone - I mean it should be, it's hilarious. The comedy is dated, as in it's references and style all reflect the era, which is now 30 plus years ago. Some of it still works because Star Wars / Trek is a thing but others not so much. He's gone to plaid!

1:23 Shan, in the U.S. some English words are spelled/spelt differently. British English - neighbour; American English - neighbor. British English - honour; American English - honor. British English - colour; American English - color. British English - humour; American English - humor. British English - grey; American English - gray. There are more examples, but I think I'll stop there. Also, 58:08 the nurse is Lillian Luthor. 1:24:30 This is a spoof of the movie Alien (1979), they even cast the same actor from the movie to do the parody himself.

Not the first time I've gotten this reaction to a Mel Brooke's film, same thing happened when I tried showing Young Frankenstein to a younger relative

Diiirk706

Yeah whoever chose this is kinda dumb, of course she'd hate; zero sense of humour. And yes this movie very much still holds up, AND the plot's still relevant today...

OMG! I LOVE SPACEBALLS... Saw Spaceballs many, many years before Star Wars. I understand... this type of humor is a required taste.
