Okay look gonna be honest no hate to laurel I loved the character but I always thought her black canary arc was a little rushed and it was fine but to me my favorite version of the canary in this universe is Sara she just is and honestly having seen the rest of the seasons I really love Dinah I think she is my second favorite but again no hate to laurel I love her I do and I think the way they killed her off was bullsh*t especially when there was so much ground work laid with her to make her a better canary and the fact the writers killed her when she was at her peak as a character and the fact that she never got to show her full potential as a canary was because the writers screwed her over like if you were only going to let her be the canary for a season what was the point of even making her the canary in the first place also she was the best character in season like come on the decision to kill her off was stupid and let’s not even get into how her last words were about olicity like that’s a f*king crime and also #Lauriver for life we were robbed

Dinah Drake is the comic book alias of the second black canary.

I'm guessing the endless complaining about Laurel is going to be a weekly thing. Swell.

Devil’s Arrow

Personally I didn’t have a problem with a new black canary. I liked Laurel but passing the mantle on to me is interesting especially since Dinah Drake is another incarnation of canary in the comics.

Andrew Polinski

Sorry Shan but they aren't disrespecting Laurel or anything like what you have said, Dinah Laurel Lance and Dinah Drake are both in the Comics as different iterations of the black canaries. In fact in the comic books Dinah Drake is actually the mother of Dinah Laurel Lance. You really need to get over the fact that Laurel is dead and Dinah Drake is taking up the mantle.

Disney15ish

If anything, Dinah Drake is more like the comic version of Laurel than the show's Laurel herself. The biggest similarity comic and show Laurel has is only the name. Comic Laurel is a metahuman fighter even before she meets Oliver. In the show, Dinah Drake is a metahuman fighter even before she meets and teams up with Oliver. But apparently, the person behind putting her in the show doesn't respect the comics?

49:40 Omg she so pissed hahaha 😂

My question for Shan is this.... what would you like to have happen instead? They messed up with killing Laurel and from the looks of it they aren’t gonna revive her because Cassidy is busy playing earth 2 Black Siren. Should they just have a Arrow show without a Canary?

Andreas Froby

Feel so with you with all Laurel issue. I watch all of Arrow but most of season 5 I think mostly watch through short reactions. That have nothing to do with season 5 and more to do with killing of Laurel in Season 4, so not a review what I actually think of season 5

Kevin Tran

He hates Laurel. Shan loves Laurel. He doesn’t make sense because he just wants to talk about how trash Laurel is. That’s all haha

I find it disappointing as well that we are still getting people posting spoilers. I wish/hope that everyone that has or is thinking about doing so really listened to your speech about keeping the reactions authentic and will refrain from doing so again. In any case, Shan won't see this anyway, because she has been told not to read the comments, so thanks guys...

Andrew Polinski

Brandon the comment has been removed by the user i hope you can let her know this. The reason i say this is because i would love Shan to see our comments so she knows the comics origins of the characters. P.S. Maybe one of her trusted moderators or editors could do like a comments recap or provide her with the non-spoiler comments, I think Shan need to see some of these comments so she can get an understanding of the Comic book origins of the character names.

Tony

She's been notified that it's safe to read the comments again. But let me remind all of you, PLEASE, Do not post spoilers. If it has ANYTHING to do with things regarding stuff she hasn't seen yet. If at any moment while you're typing up your comment you think "Hmmm.. This might actually be spoilery" DO. NOT. POST! Let's do our best to try and keep her spoiler free. Thanks, T. :)

A little tidbit about the characters DC allows in the Arrowverse. They change all the time. They'll allow certain characters for a bit and then stop allowing the CW to use them. A year or two later they may allow the use of the characters again. The writers do have to work around whatever side of the bed the higher ups over at DC woke up on. Things can seriously change over night. I don't remember if that is why Nyssa was used over Talia in season 2. It's quite possible though.

Always nice with a suprise mini crossover with the Flash, I liked the legit post-it :)

Sorry for the length of this it's just a complicated subject and I wanted to get it all out. I don't think it's disrespectful to Laurel or Laurel fans at all personally. I am a Laurel fan. I still liked her despite flaws in character or writing some may perceive. I liked her but she wasn't the same as the comic Laurel or as seasoned or a meta. Now some may not like choices they made but they decided to go down a route and followed it through. I wasn't sure at first myself but looking back I can see they were going for their own version. In the end having her die is something where despite opinions about her you could still feel sad about her dying. But could understand that is what a character death suppose be, sad and that's the reason it has an impact because you cared about the character. Experiencing the lose and grief and consequences of it. I know her death has more feeling and impact than others might. Which is exactly why someone may still be upset that she died because it actually hit you in the feels but that doesn't mean it's bad writing or disrespectful. I think it's just the opposite. This whole season is about honoring her memory and her last wish and having more canaries. In the comics there are others. Also I don't see it as any different than a lot of other characters either. Is it disrespectful to Barry that Wally becomes the Flash or what about Dick Grayson becoming Batman. Some may or may not like those stories but it's still a common trope in comics permanent or temporary as it may be It can still be interesting while it lasts. I know you like Laurel so did I but at some point you have to see they told the story they wanted to tell with that version of Canary and now we have Katie as Black Siren, a New Black Canary and Sara as White Canary who I like but is also an original character who I like despite Sara being new and White Canary being different in the comics. Let me ask this, if they had started with another Canary and then they died and brought in Laurel as a second canary which is actually how comics are do you think you would have rejected her then and said you want the other one back or do think maybe being open to new possibilities of story lines might be OK because there are places they can go with new characters they couldn't go with Laurel simply because of their backstories and personalities are different both are ok in their own way.. I'm not trying to criticize and you can feel however you want to but I'm just saying I'm hoping her being gone doesn't ruin the show for you going forward from here. To me I liked Katie as E-1 Laurel and now I like her as E-2 Laurel and also enjoy the new Canary also. I'm just hoping you can give it a chance. I mean it is only the first episode with her in it. I took me a little bit to warm up to until I saw and knew more info. Dinah Drake is a comic book BC first is was Dinah Drake and Laurel was her daughter and then there is a Dinah who is the BC in the new 52 comics and with a different backstory this one would be more taken from that but she is still BC and isn't made up for the show.

Diggle: "You don't have to find someone to replace her, just take on the mantle" Shan: "No" This is getting old.
