Do NOT watch unless you have finished Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Angel season 4.

Here we go my lovelies!

Me and Ian recorded this days after I finished the series, it took a while to edit because I had to add my footage to his footage and sync that up as well as syncing up the episode to which i needed a copy with subtitles embedded. It was really hard to sync everything up but I hope it's mostly okay.

There may be slight delays or something I apologize if so.

It's a 2 hour recording, I hope you have your food and drinks ready for a nice chat with Ian!

-- Episode Rewatch begins around the 1 hour mark.

Enjoy.

(I've been practicing my singing the songs, I think I did well!)

Sometimes the video is unavailable to stream as it takes time to process. This means you may have to download it to watch the reaction. Sorry about that!

Biggest crossover since Endgame! This is AMAZING and I will never get tired of watching this episode. Thank you Shan!

I want to start a pie shop called “Once More With Filling”.

AfterShowReactions

I want to say its hilarious watching just myself singing without the episode or Ian, and likewise just watching Ian singing without context - its almost embarrassing to watch alone :P

Jarrod Wild

Yay Ian drops by again! You two are fun together.

Allan Cornett

One of the greatest episodes in the history of tv.

Bellatronics

OMG! Awesooomme! Gotta get ready for this :)

FernWithy

Raise your hand if you're singing along with them... :waves:

Chaotic Cam

What a nice surprise!

FernWithy

What if the whole "Xander doesn't take responsibility" isn't actually what's going on? What if he really thinks Dawn did it and is just trying to cover for her? Oh, and had Spike already sung on his own, so he knew what was going happen if he opened his mouth?

Anonymous

Shan, I wish it was me in this video singing with you. I was singing with the both of you the whole time.

UTU49

My throat is sore, because I sang along through most of it, and I'm a weak singer.

UTU49

My favourite YouTubers have names that end in "an". I-an. Sh-an. V-an.

Taylor Jackson

Ian pretending to be buffy during let me rest in peace was too good :P

Paul Gibson

Brilliant one of my fave vids ever. I can see you practiced, in some songs there was almost no butchery at all 😉

Zoot!

There's a quest in world of warcraft called "Once more with eeling" where you have to go kill a bunch of eels. Heh.

2 Agents and the Buffy musical. Pretty good for a no content week :)

The first hour, the dialog with Ian, was a great thoughts-like video about the whole series!

Holi117

LOVED this video! So awesome. Shan... have you considered doing a reaction video to the Behind the Scenes of Once More With Feeling (if you have not seen it, yet?) I'd totally watch you watch that lol.

Holi117

OOOH, and the bloopers and dailies from Buffy too!

MittenCrab

What a fantastic treat. So much to unpack: 1) Ian has a magnificent poker face. Not a flicker about blondy bear and S5. 2) This odd couple pairing works so well as Ian and Shan help bring out different aspects of each other's characters while reacting. 3) Ian's not a Patron of Shan and watches on Youtube? I mean...dude!...how can you not watch the full reactions?! 4) The sheer joy Ian has singing is infectious. 5) Shan is a surprisingly good singer...minus the drag factor of the Aussie accent. 😜 6) It was incredibly cruel of Shan not to let her dad join in. I mean, at least let the poor chap down gently. 7) Where do we go from here? Obsessively watch Buffy reactions trying to recapture the first time. Maybe you find that one special reactor who actually can bend time and make it all new again. Really, really enjoyed this. Thanks to both Ian and Shan. Hope we get to see this dream team together again.

Allan Cornett

Never sing on a reaction again. I would rather watch Angel sing a whole Barry Manilow album. This almost ruined the episode for me.

Well, it's always a joy to have Ian on, and I enjoyed the discussion part of this.. but I couldn't quite make it through the singing..

Anonymous

Ok so you didn't like it but judging by almost all of the other comments a lot of people did. There is no reason to be mean, it is completely uncalled for!

Loved the collaboration. The discussion was interesting and the rewatch was super fun. Seeing you do Once More with Feeling again makes me hope that you'll eventually get to Dr. Horrible someday, which is another excellent Whedon musical with catchy tunes.

Richard Lucas

One million up votes for Dr Horrible. Would love to see Shan watch it in 3 segments, as it was originally posted to the net!

I hadn’t thought of this, but it’s an awfully big risk, the possibility of being a Xander-demon-bride for all of eternity. I think Xander did it because I just rewatched an episode in season 4 where Xander talks to Giles about summoning a demon so they have something to fight. Just an offhand Xander joke in poor taste? Or more foreshadowing, like Willow’s Pavorati opera in 1-10, or Buffy’s Faith dream in season 4 that “little sis is coming”. This show, like Game of Thrones, really is full of that sort of foreshadowing (the Lannister breakfast scene at the start of GoT 1-2 blew my mind on rewatch for example)

Melazond

OMG I just realized he says "I'm a hairs breadth from investigating bunnies" HARES pun! And I'm glad they went all the way to "grr argh" which is my favorite.

UTU49

Who here has watched every single Buffyverse video from both Shan and Ian? [hand up]

'No underwear' is double hilarious when you realise it's Marti Noxon singing--A producer/writer on Buffy. Who knew producers could sing? David Fury is also featured as mustard man, also a writer director. Is it just me that noticed the dancer at the top left hand corner in 'They got the mustard out'. No one else seems to mention it...?

My brain took a different tack with the sign falling down. End of season two Sunnydale defeats Buffy, she's broken and expelled and the last thing she sees is the sign 'You are now leaving Sunnydale'. At the end of season seven Buffy is still standing and the sign falls down...it's literally Sunnydale that left!

MittenCrab

I wish I could recommend your comment more than once. Always nice when you see something new. lmao

Ana (Lariaenl)

The thing with between Giles and spike on season 7. I always saw it more like Giles being the buffy "father" and seing Spike as a pretendent for his girl. The second vampire she dates, to make things worse. And to be fair, the last vampire relationship didn't end that well...

Bellatronics

Ah! My comment from 3 days ago disappeared. Weird Patreon! Here it is again: Absolutely fabulous! Yup, I did sing a long, can't help it! So I rewound bits to hear what the two of your were saying or hear you singing :D Shan - wow, you know the words to most of the songs already - I counted, you've watched it 6 times and listened to some /all of the sings twice. Wow :) ( for only a few months). This vid made me smile and grin so much - the fun time the two of you were having is infectious. Neither of you a fan of Sweet's song. I love that song and know it off by heart - I think it's the jazz tunes , amazing voice and some awesome lyrics -" Something’s cooking, I’m at the griddle. I bought Nero his very first fiddle.". Not my favourite song though - hard to choose actually! Thanks so much for this you two!

Timotey Kuhn

I have to tell yah. When Ian was asking you in the early part of this video about when in Season 2 that the show truly struck a chord with you, I was getting worried that it took you so long to say "SPIKE!"... LULZ.

Shan, loved the rewatch.

Regarding your discussion abot Riley. I have mixed feelings about him. I liked him because he was like me. I try to avoid confrontation, and try to be nice to everyone I know, regardless of how I feel about them. He had an honesty and straightforwardness about him. At the the same time, I could see that his relationship with Buffy was not going to work. And I feel bad because it didn't really bother me.

Clara V.

The thing about Riley is that I always liked him the most when he wasn't in the foreground. I know that sounds like just a different way of saying I don't like him but it's not. Early season 4 I thought he was great, he was a good guy, I loved his dynamic with Willow (whatever happened to that?) like when she was his "accomplice", that was good stuff and showed his empathy. But then his relationship to Buffy and the Initiative storyline just completely took over everything else there was about him and the Buffy/Riley relationship specifically just... doesn't work, nor did the drama they tried to give him. Fast forward to early season 5, the drama is done, he's back to being just a good guy and guess what, I liked him again. Until he came back into the foreground, the second they tried to give him a story-arc it all fell apart again. The truth is, Riley's not that bad as a person, he just isn't main character material. If he'd always stayed in a supporting role a lot more people would like him. And to be clear, this show has a long history of great and beloved supporting characters who are interesting and matter, so it's not like he couldn't have gotten his chances to shine here and there. It's just that no storyline should have ever been ABOUT him.

Ok, I know it took me a loooooong time to watch this in its entirety, but I had to do it the right way, and I don't get properly drunk as often as I used to. Midnight sing-along FTW!! With matching dancing around and over the couch, of course. Big, big fun!! Thank you both :D

You should think about reacting to the unaired Buffy pilot. There are some big differences in it.
