This us a good one. I know it will sound crazy, but Vampire Dean is pretty hot. The scene with him sitting and his foot on the master vamps head was hot too. Yep. I must be a sicko. It's also really sad. Because of what Sam did, dean has to go through this. And he almost killed Lisa and Ben. Not good, Sam! I lived the look on Deans face at the beginning of the episode when he was talking to her. And now this. Not good.

Vampirism in this show is a bit different from others. I don't think invitations are needed, and from the season 3 episode with Gordon's turn and death all it takes is a small amount of blood drank or mixed into someone's bloodstream and they're a vampire very soon after, hypersensitive to light, scent, and sound and constantly hungry

Since you said you were confused about vampire lore on SPN: Throw out all the knowledge you've gotten on vampires. SPN vampires don't follow most of that. Here are the basic rules we've learned by season 6. You become a vampire on 2 parts. 1st you ingest the blood from another vampire. Then you drink the blood of a human. That is how you fully turn. You don't die. Vampires aren't dead. A vampire prefers to sleep during the day because the sun is too harsh and hurts. It won't make them combust. Vampires don't age once turned. They are very strong, but a hunter can still fight them. And they don't need to be invited into a house. They go wherever they want. Basically just evil, killing, live forever humans with a constant desire for human blood. I think you know the rest.

They also don't seem to be any faster than a normal human being. And they certainly don't have glittery skin, can't create fog or turn into a bat!

The SPN vampires seem closer to the old The Lost Boys movie than to the modern 21st century shows.

I was so happy for you that you thought you'd figured out the plot :D you got a general outline at least, if not the heart of the story. You did way better than I did about realizing something was off with Sam. In the previous episodes of S6, I thought the writers were just trying to show that hell had changed him a bit, made him colder, less empathetic. But THIS episode brought home to me that "oh WOW! something really is wrong with Sam". I'm sure it says something deeply disturbing about my psyche that I find Dean cleaning out that vampire nest single-handed INCREDIBLY hot!! I'm so glad you enjoyed this episode. Michele is right btw, basically throw out all the other vampire lore you've been exposed to in pop culture. Supernatural has its own rules for vamps. Like the only way to kill one is to chop off its head, no staking or crosses. One of my favorite monologues is the one when John explains vampire lore to the boys in S1 'Dead Man's Blood'. See you next time!

Campbell's is a soup brand in the USA too. That's why Samuel made the crack about the old family recipe being a vampire cure instead of soup, to highlight how far from mainstream their family is and has been for a loooong time.
