The actress who plays Hayley is Australian, yes! I noticed that too when I watched the first time around. It slips here and there.

I think Damon hit the nail on the head with the question he asked Stefan at the end: "You want to cure her because she's a vampire and she's not cut out to be? Or you can't love her if she is one?" Maybe the “can’t love her” part was a bit of an exaggeration, but I do think Stefan sees vampire Elena as kind of a damaged version of the girl he fell in love with. My biggest reason for believing this is the fact that, when she was human, Stefan always let Elena make her own decisions, up to and including allowing her to make decisions that got her killed twice (Klaus’s ritual in 2x21 and saving Matt first in 3x22). But now that she’s a vampire, he’s making decisions for her, keeping secrets and lying. Yes, Elena would rather be human again than stay a vampire, but maybe making a deal with Klaus is a price she wouldn’t be willing to pay for it I mean, if Stefan wants the cure for himself, because he wants to be human again, then I’m fine with him making any deals and keeping any secrets necessary to get the cure. But if he really wants it for Elena, as he keeps saying, then she has a right to know what price Stefan has agreed to pay to get that cure, especially considering Stefan’s history of letting Elena make her own choices, even over Damon’s sometimes quite vehement objections.

I don’t get why she is so broken up about it to be honest. That hunter was an existential threat to her friends, her family, and herself. He had to go. Jeremy and Matt are so dumb sometimes, especially Matt.
