I think the chip = soul argument makes more since when you think about it. If you take out the chip Spike reverts to a murderous vampire, if you take the soul Angel also reverts to a murderous vampire. The only reason either of them behave is because of something that was implanted inside of them against their will.

yes but the difference is intentions. Angel doesn't want to kill and more importantly wants to be redeemed. Spike isn't killing people because he physically cant, the chip won't allow him. Angel on the other hand can physically kill people, and the thing stopping him is his choice to not kill.

One note that is easy to miss: Spike didn’t kill the girl in the Bronze. Dru killed her by snapping her neck and then she fell into Spike’s arms. This was one of my favorite episodes of the season as well.

I always feel ao bad for spike.. he isnt perfect (not according to good guys lol) but he does genuinely love her, he just has no idea what he can do about it lol. Dumb idea tk chain buffy up, but i guess he thought offering to kill his sire would make buffy at least take his feeings seriously... but nope lol! Awww my poor spikey

I think with the "dancing", she thought they were talking about killing the slayer. She's saying even if she did have a death wish she would never let him do it. And Spike is talking about dancing as in... you know. Thats my interpretation of why she didn't get it back then, anyways.

I continue to be confused by your surprise when guest star characters appear. The credit "Juliet Landau as Drusilla" appeared during the scene in the living room as Joyce was talking about being glad that Buffy was home. Right there. On screen. In big white letters, as Buffy & Joyce sat next to each other.

I don't pay attention to it cos I know that sometimes it can contain spoilers like that so I rather focus real hard on the scene at hand.

The only thing I don't like about this episode is the fact that crazy Dru does not get to meet crazy Glory. Imagine those shenanigans.

Someone may have already mentioned this to you, but just in case they haven't, you should be sure to watch the Buffy season finale before the Angel season finale because of some small spoilers of what happens in the Buffy finale in the Angel finale. Since Angel aired right after Buffy for its first two seasons, they assumed everyone watching Angel had just watched the Buffy finale.

This episode was epic and I was so happy it came this week because I'm a huge Spiffy fan and Spike is my favorite Buffy character and this episode focused a lot on him and what he is going through. I feel so bad for Spike even though I know we shouldn't because he is techny evil and stalking Buffy but I just love him so much and I can't help it. He is my favorite aspect of the show and I can't stand when there are episodes he doesn't appear in.

And we love you for that. Stupid contracts that require it sometimes I guess, but this is the most egregious example so I’m glad you made it through unspoiled. I remember the first time I watched, I must have missed it too, because I actually gasped when I saw Miss Edith.

I love this episode so much, Spike is doing it so wrong, but he tries so hard anyways XD. Still, you should remember that episode when Faith trade bodies with Buffy and give him the "I´l gallop you" speech, Spike think it was her, so he might believe that there is at least some lust in Buffy toward him. I think that was the starting point for his delusion.

No one has given Harmony much love yet so I will. She had some of the best lines/deliveries in this one. That added to the overall enjoyment for me. From her "playing Buffy" with Spike, to her 3-some comment and dissing Dru, to her final line about Spike no longer seeing "this any more". LOL Great stuff from her this episode.

I think she was doing the thing her mom used to do with all the weird stuff before she found out there was a slayer... just kinda pretend nothing is going on, even though if she really thought about it, she's know something was up.
