So, about your questions about the military. I don't know the average time or anything. But, I'm a U.S. Navy vet, so from my own experience. After the first signing of papers, it was about a month and a half of medical exams/aptitude tests/waiting for background check to complete before I signed final papers. After that, I had like 8 months of basically being in a waiting list for a spot in Boot Camp to open up. The timing speeds up if there's a war or something, but yeah...signing up and leaving the next day is VERY inaccurate. Oh, and Whitney, he's going to marine boot camp, so he should be back in like 12 weeks for like a week long vacation. Then he'll go to training for a specific job, which could be a few weeks or a few years depending on the job (during which time he'll get vacation again. My training was a year and a half long, and I got a total of like 6 weeks of vacation spread throughout the training time) So, it isn't like "see you in 10 years." I don't know about your comment about asking a girl to wait for you...I think he did it completely horribly, and she should be pissed. But joining the military is a life changing major decision, and if the guy/girl cares about their partner enough to want them to not break up, then it should be something they discuss as a couple before any papers are signed. I mean, if during that discussion he says "If I do this, would you wait for me?" To me, that'd be fine. However, they are stupid high school people...and high school couples always say dumb crap before going away to different colleges. So, I just chalked it up to that sort of stupid teenage stuff. Yup, Jonathan is a complete jerk in this episode. Oh, and my personal opinion is that the writers kept hurting Lana in season finales, because she is a horrible character (that season when she becomes a witch is the perfect example of how bad her character is).

Another where I like the use of music. I always thought the song at the start was used real well and when he gets in the truck and it blows up and the theme song during the dance.

Lex is 21 and Clark is 14 at the start of the season and now probably 22 and 15 based on when their birthdays are later in the series I believe. They said club zero was 3 years ago Lex was 19 and he would have been 9 at the meteor shower. Lana has her 18th bday in Paris right before the senior year in s4 so in s1 she would be 15 at the start of the season so each season she is 15, 16, 17 and then 18. In America school years start in Sept or Oct and end in like may or June. In Smallville the season starts in Oct and ends in May. So some kids are older during the school year because when the started kindergarten their bdays were before the year started. I was like Clark where my was later in April so I was always younger each. I was 14 in 9th grade until the end of the year and turned 15 etc etc. so I didn't turn 18 until the end of my senior year where someone like Lana would spend their whole senior year already being 18. I was class of 2001 so this show started my first year of college. The being 18 thing is kinda why they have the whole Lana and Jason and Lex thing in s4 because she turned 18 and Lex would be 24 I think and Jason I think was like 24-26 ish I don't know they ever said for sure but he was recently out of college.
