If comics get to retcon, Buffy is allowed also, I always reasoned that Dawn stayed with her father in LA to finish primary and middle school there.

Just to ease you from going crazy with confusion, it's a bit of a slow burn, what Dawn's about. But, after watching this episode again with you I was surprised at how much subtle foreshadowing was in this episode. Joss Whedon's pretty great at it.

There was a lot of Dawn foreshadowing. Remember the dream with Buffy and Faith making the bed in Buffy's spare bedroom? Faith says "Little sis coming. I know. So much to do before she gets here". Hope you continue to avoid spoilers!

I can’t beloeve you’ve forgotten all the episodes from seasons 1-4 that Dawn was in! How Oz used to tease her. How Faith tried to get her to smoke a cigarette. How in that Halloween episode she became a real teenage mutant ninja turtle.

ASR, I just realized that you have been confused for 4 STRAIGHT episodes of Buffy. Soooo fun! I promise you that EVENTUALLY you will watch another Buffy episode that does NOT confuse you. (Probably.)
