Joss Whedon likes to use themes in all his episodes about growing up and everyday life. I believe this episode is meant to show dangers of drinking and college life.

I love these full reactions! And I LOVED your bit of comedy at the start :D keep em coming! One thing I was wondering was do you ever let the credits roll til the end? You miss all the "Grr arghs"! There are some that are themed to the episode, like at the end of Becoming Part 2 the little zombie goes "Oh, I need a hug" :)

I don't think there are any truly bad episodes of Buffy, but this is far from one of the best. The main parts that make the episode worthwhile are Willow calling Parker out on his garbage and the whole "just how gullible do you think I am" thing, and Buffy hitting Parker upside the head.

Interestingly, I believe this episode was done as part of a deal between the US government and most of the TV networks to show anti-drug and anti-drinking 'propaganda' to viewers. Whether Whedon was planning on doing something like this anyway, I don't know.

I Think this is the worse episode of Buffy. If I remember right The US government was giving grants for anti-drug messages in entertainment and this episode was made in an attempt to get some of the grant money.

I love your full reaction of this episode. It was so fun to rewarch as well. And yeah it's a very silly episode, but I always watch it when I want a bit of light fun. I hope we will get many more full reactions. I'd love to see your reaction to Something Blue in full. But anyway keep up the good work and don't ever stop. :)

I've just pledged and am now watching this - fab to have full reactions btw! Have to just pause my watching at your 'fringe' shock moment - LOL . Like that was not only popular in the 90s, everyone in London is wearing their fringe like that the last couple of years. OK, well, not everyone, :D but it is VERY popular and fashionable. Maybe a wee bit longer sometimes - but that dead straight across fringe, usually with longer hair than the girl at the bar, and the hair tends to be a mussed/wavy look in contrast to the dead straight fringe. Don't think I could ever carry it off, but can look really good! I find your utter shock at slightly unusual hair styles pretty amusing :D I will get back to the rest of the episode later, have to go out now. xx

Rewatching these episodes again it strikes me just how much more I liked Riley when he wasn't with Buffy yet, but simply a nice dude. I especially liked his scenes with Willow in the early part of the season, but then all that was swallowed up by his relationship with Buffy and all its Drama...
