Patrick - Excelsior

Damn, I liked Carson. He played off Rodney well. David Hewlett did an amazing job portraying both the grief and guilt that Rodney was feeling. The discussion he had with Ronin as well as the talk with "Carson" at the end. Very sad. The way they had Carson trying to get someone to enjoy their day off with him only to be repeated rejected really adds to the sadness. When I have lost someone to death, one of the things that always haunts me is remembering the times they wanted to hangout or do something together and I find an excuse not to, not realizing the number of chances I had to do this is soon to end. They portrayed this feeling with the way this story was written very well. We the audience are tricked into feeling the same boredom with what the character is doing here, only to realize, the character is now gone.

As you could tell from my notes ...I found 3x16 to be quite boring ...So my notes in turn voiced a tiny bit of my insanity (there's a LOT. of it still untapped) ...And given that you needed it ...And that 3x17 (although being a fan favourite) is quite the emotional episode for some with the loss of Beckett ..I'm glad I was able to make you laugh 2. Nah Froots... Those 1000 people are now living on the planet ...YES. they DID. say it was nuked ...BUT... They also implied it was now habitable again ...How did they imply it? Aside from some throwaway lines and having Major Lorne said to go back to the planet to help those people ...Well Sheppard thought it was safe enough to crash land a shuttle on said planet to save himself and everyone on board ....It wouldn't make much sense for him to crash land on the planet if said planet was still lethal to all human life 3. You after the first explosion went off: "See that's what happens when you materialize a 1000 people you don't even know.. I don't even know if that's a plot point anymore" ....Yeah nah Froots ...You're right ..That's NOT. a plot point anymore ...Seems like someone or something else is causing explosions to go off on Atlantis 4. Yip ...Not sure where you'd recognise the guy from who's asking Weir out for some food ...But good on you to not tempt fate and look it up ...We both know how much you need my help ...I went through his list of credentials and nothing pops out that you'd watch on a regular basis (even privately) ...So he must look like someone else I suppose ...added later... He kind of gave away SOME. Luke Wilson (Stargirl dad) vibes ...Just a little though ..I dunno ...It ofcourse wasn't him ..But still 5. Yeeeeaaah... Sheppard and Ronon have known eachother 1.5 years now ...You're right ..They SHOULD. know details about eachother's lives ...The fact that Sheppard didn't even know Ronon left someone he loved behind on Sateda is odd to me ...Friends share stuff ...This made Sheppard and Ronon look like colleagues at best 6. I suppose I can understand how you didn't know McKay and Katie were a couple given that they've barely had any interaction in the previous episodes ...We've only seen them go on one date (with Beckett being there as a third wheel and during a time where McKay had another person's mind inside his) and we've heard McKay mention her 1 or 2 times since ...It's easy to forget he's actually seeing someone since we haven't really SEEN. her again until now 7. HA! Zelenka is boasting how he's been winning at chess against some of the people on Atlantis ...He mentions he's won the entire animé collection of someone called "Doctor Mallozzi" ....For the observant people that name should ring a bell ...Joseph Mallozzi having written MANY. stargate episodes 8. Yip ...Not sure what it is with Stargate ...But they seem to like killing off doctor characters the fans love ...Poor Beckett ..He just wanted a day off to go fishing ....Should've contacted O'neill 9. McKay: "They're going to send the body back to Earth ..And ehm ..I'm going to tell his mother" ...You: "And his turtles?" ...I was thinking that too ...Poor little buggers ..Who is going to tell them? 10. There's something this episode does very well though ...Conveying the feeling of "I should've done something" when it comes to losing a loved one ...I think that made the loss of Beckett extra emotional 11. You're not wrong ...This was in a way similar to how Frasier died ...In the line of doody ..Trying to help people ...With the episode giving different perspectives from different characters ...Good observation 12. As for the reason why Beckett got written off the show ...With the cancellation of SG-1 the creators of the show wanted to shake things up a bit ...Beckett's death was one of the things laying the groundwork towards making that happen 13. The ending made me tear up a little just FYI (and again during the edit) ...McKay saying goodbye to his best friend ...The scene made me emotional imagining the loss of MY best friend and knowing it would kill me to lose said friend ...I hope I never do
