This was pretty decent however my biggest criticism is the lack of characters in this episode. I know it's a Sam centred episode but that doesn't mean we can't see other SG-1 members. Part of what makes alternate reality episodes so entertaining is comparing and contrasting the character's personalities in the alternate reality and our own. It would have been way more fun had we saw alternate Vala and Teal'c and how different they were in this world. Hell, I'll even say I wish they played a role in getting Sam back to her own world rather than the president just changing his mind and letting Sam go in the end.

When it comes to people who are on a path of redemption... It doesn't really matter if WE. forgive their actions though ...No matter how aweful they have been ...It's they themselves who must live with what they've done and IF. they choose to try and own up for their mistakes then that's a step in the right direction ....Given Tomin freed Vala and also questioned the Prior's judgement ...Which are 2 things that might well could get one killed in a society so heavily based on religion such as the one Tomin is a part of ...This means Tomin risked his life to free Vala and again when he stood up to his superior ...There might be hope for him 2. Soooo... This world gives us a tiny glimpse of what it would be like if the Stargate program would be made public ...Massive panic ..Riots ...Former allies turned enemies ...Their president apparently having to hide inside of Cheyenne Mountain ...Probably so they could reduce production budget costs on having to build an oval office set but whatever ....Sounds like a pretty crappy world to live in ....I guess it's a good thing the program has been kept secret 3. And their Carter was married to McKay ...Oh boy ...Our McKay better not hear about that ...Letting him know there was a universe out there where McKay actually married Carter might give him the wrong kinda hope 4. PAUSE. ...Y'know ...I was thinking WHY. they didn't mention O'neill in this episode ...And aside from the obvious reason that they couldn't get RDA to guest star (which.. side note.. would've been a trip IF. he was the president) ....But it got me thinking ...They DID. defend the planet from Anubis by using the Ancient outpost in Antarctica ....My head canon is ...It was O'neill who used the chair and then had to go into suspended animation ....He's just STILL. resting there OR. the attempt by the Asgard to bring him back DIDN'T work and he died .......I dunno ...It's better than RDA couldn't schedule us in ...Although it's still just me filling in the blanks I guess and it would've been nice to get a mention of him 5. Blink and you'll miss it moment ...Or well ...Not a blink ...But a keep your ears open moment ...During the reception that Carter is attending in her honour ...There's some piano music going on in the background ....It's the SG-1 theme song 6. Ok Senator ....You thought I wouldn't notice ...But I did ....This guy just thanked Carter for the great work she did and then got led away by his wife .....But not before he took a peek at Carter's cleavage 7. Yeah first of all... Carter's got some really good eye for detail for figuring out that this was Prometheus they just got beamed on to ....But also ...The guy on the intercom just told Landry welcome to Airforce One??? ......They turned Prometheus into the presidents private jet?!?! ...Disgusting 8. Ok... I GET. that Carter would have a problem with how things went down on this alternate Earth ....But she SHOULD. have used her inside voice ...She's telling random people off about the decisions they made to keep their planet safe ...But ALL. she needs to really do is TRY. to get back home ...This planet and it's problems are not hers to solve ...It felt a bit like added filler for her to all of a sudden go around accusing people of making choices that don't really concern her ....Like the writer of the episode kinda resolved the issue but then found out there was still 15 minutes of episode left to fill 9. HA! Good catch Froots ....They continued to call her Major Carter even though earlier in the episode they mentioned she got promoted ...Bit of an oversight on the writers there 10. Yeeeeaah.. Really odd plot development there to have Alternate Landry basically threatening Carter into submission and then a scene later to have Alternate McKay take over Carter's research so she can be sent home ....That really made it feel like the last 15 minutes of the episode just kinda had to be written in cause the main plot of the episode was finished too fast 11. Yikes ...Literally 2 seconds before Carter got back home ...Bill was walking through the empty lab right in the exact location where Carter appeared seconds later ....If he'd have stood still for even a moment ..He'd probably have been cut in half by the table Carter was standing next to 12. Sooooo... I did some digging afterwards and found out that the entire episode WAS. basically planned as is ....However part of this episode was actually something the writers initially planned to do at the end of Season 7 ...BEFORE. they found out that the show was going to be renewed ...HAD. the show only gone for 7 seasons ..THIS. is what we would've ended with ...The world thrown into chaos cause of the reveal of the Stargate program
