Yeah, this movie was why it took so long for Howard to be re-introduced as a live action character. It was so bad that no one wanted to take the risk. Thankfully, his MCU counterpart is a much better representation of the character. This was actually the first movie based on a Marvel character. It's also largely why they weren't making a lot of Marvel movies since. The ones they did make were also mostly panned, until they did X-Men, which caused the comic book movie industry to explode. This is campy and difficult to watch these days for different reasons. I wouldn't have rewatched it if you hadn't reacted to it and it is even worse than I remember lol.

Robin Williams was originally going to voice Howard, but after a week of him working on it, they realized his high speed humor and constant ad-libbing wasn't going to work with the limitation of the animatronics in Howard's bill. I do still like the Howard The Duck song, catchy. I knew the Dark Lord was going to be problematic. With the campy portal of the possessed Doctor and the Claymation monster at end. The actress playing Beverly did all her own singing and still has the Les Paul guitar from the movie. There was a LOT of humor there and 80's culture references that probably went over your head. Especially references to old movies and 80's commercials. I actually liked the movies but it gets harder over time. It just doesn't hold up well. I'm glad you reacted to, its fun to see someone from a younger era and see there opinion of it.
