The way you pronounce the final -s in "Meliboeus" and "Tityrus" sounded a lot like a [ʃ]. Is this the sound between [s] and [ʃ] you've mentioned in some video?

Yes! I have talked a out this in several videos. Latin and Ancient Greek both have retracted S (its not a SH sound, it is indeed in between). Any language that doesn’t have a SH sound — Modern Greek, Finnish, Castilian Spanish, Icelandic, Old Norse, PIE — inevitably has retracted S.
