The “ones that look like little ‘Xs’” are, not coincidentally, called X-wings. There are also A-Wings, which look vaguely like a flying letter “A.” The ships flying around the AT-ATs in the beginning of this film are just called Snow Speeders and are a variant of the Land Speeder that Luke drove across the landscape of Tattoine in the first film.

Yoda’s speech patterns were probably just to make him a bit more odd, but they’re actually more typical worldwide than you’d think. English is weird in a lot of ways. “I have a birthday in April” in German is stated as “I have in April a birthday.” It only seems backwards because we speak English here in the U.S.
