When a situation develops like this, where a group with modest military resources is up against a coalition of serious global powers, are there cycles that people on the front line go through where they want help from the outside, then disenfranchised and think “I don’t want anyone else in here, this is our moment”, then as things develop further go back to wishing someone from somewhere would step in and do something? What’s been your sense from the experiences you’ve had? I can’t help but think there’s a rollercoaster of feelings when hell comes down on your whole world.
