It isn’t addressed in the series but Kiritsugu cheated on Irisviel with Maiya for the stupidest / most pathetic of reasons. Cheating on her is practice for his ultimate betrayal of her (trading Irisviel’s life for the grail). Which is funny because Irisviel knows exactly how this will all play out for her and is happy to die for his dream. And it’s basically a throwaway reference in Zero but we will get to meet Mayia’s kid in FSF.
