I wasn't sure if this video was going to be any good due to the simplicity of the device.

Rather than carry the thing back in my luggage I opted to strip the electronic module and flame-loom out and recycle the rest.

It's a very odd combination of trying to be weatherproof and then completely defeating it by providing a way in for the water.  But people like us can finish the job and make it more rugged.

Aldi's triple flame outdoor electronic candle

This thing doesn't look too bad in use, and the use of a layer of wax on the inner recess is quite neat. But after the promising start of the waterproof battery compartment cover, it was a bit annoying to find that if the top fills with water, it will leak to the inside and be guided neatly down onto the electronics by the wires. And that includes potentially filling up the waterproof battery compartment. So if you have one of these then make sure it's not left out in the rain until you have done some extra waterproofing. Aside from that issue, the effect is nice enough, although it would have been nicer if each flame had its own undulating effect. I think this may have been the last video I recorded in Edinburgh before the usual armageddon of a show load out involving many hundreds of heavy lighting fixtures and miles of cabling being removed in just a few days. At this point the stadium will be well on its way to being fully dismantled, leaving no evidence of our huge and very loud show. If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:- https://www.bigclive.com/coffee.htm This also keeps the channel independent of YouTube's algorithm quirks, allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty. #ElectronicsCreators
