A gift from Vince the crew chief on the current show.  It's a Pixmob audience wristband that allows the lighting system to activate colours on the wrists of the audience members.

This version is infrared.  I also have a wireless version to explore too.

IR controlled concert LED wristband

Since the Xyloband was used on Coldplay concerts in 2012, the use of interactive audience illumination gadgets has become common in the entertainment industry. This unit is a Pixmob band that can be given a specific identification code and is controlled by high power infrared floodlights in the lighting rig that transmit control data when triggered by the lighting desk. If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:- https://www.bigclive.com/coffee.htm This also keeps the channel independent of YouTube's algorithm quirks, allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty. #ElectronicsCreators

Fascinating. Many years ago a prankster group from the now defunct ZUG website hacked the American Superbowl with similar LED devices distributed to certain seats in the crowd and intended to display the groups URL during an entertainment segment. It kinda worked but the story of how the team socially red-teamed themselves past security was amazing. I'm sure it is archived in the usual place. I had forgotten all about it until seeing this video.
