Mavros POV:-

As we woke up with a gasp and stumbled through the dark cave. Toward the entrance. I could already feel how much more Prime, and I assimilated during that trial.

It was almost as if we had reached the halfway point. Toward union. When we first were linked. I could tell his thoughts were his and mine were my own. The darkness felt familiar yet foreign in my body.

Now, I feel like I would have to try intentionally to look for the differences in thoughts or feelings. Eventually, we both understand that we will no longer have our own consciousness, for we will merge. At this point, we both have the same opinion. It won't change anything, for our goal remains the same. We know what we need to do.

Stumbling out of the cave, I looked down at my hand made of black blood that also had claws for my fingers. It was as if my body evolved to accommodate the loss. Clenching it and moving it felt as if my hand had never left me. I could care less if it looked strange. It just needs to work.

"Oh, it seems you passed your trial. Did you find the answer you were looking for?"

My eyes looked toward Zaneri and Jenna, who stood with Theo. I felt myself stepping toward them as I kept my head down. No words coming from my mouth.

"You okay, Prime?" Jenna asked.

"You feel... off." Zaneri said, stepping back. As I stopped in front of them.

I could feel Theo tense up as if he was ready to defend the sealed Goddesses at any moment. However, it would prove to be futile.

In a blinding speed, my blackened hand shot forward three tendrils of blood shooting off and impaling each of them in the chest. As I raised my head to stare them in the eyes.

Coughing up blood, they all reached up and grasped the tendril. Realizing something was different.

"Y-You aren't, Prime."

"Yes and no. I go by Mavros. It doesn't matter if you shall die. For we need your power. Especially if we are going to call the Supreme Deity to us. You two are far too weak for this, though. I guess I'll need Elizabeth."

My body started to transform as it grew slightly larger, and my head grew into that of my dragon form. Allowing me to easily eat all of them at once. Their powers are assimilated into our being.

My hand was restored into shape without the tendrils, and I could feel that in the dark blood, things were held. I feel the presence of the relics from Remnant. I had thought they were lost with the system, but it seemed that they were stored in the Abyss. For later use.

Smelling something in the air, my large snout picking up the scent of a demon. I found myself ascending into the air as my wings shot out of my back.

"We probably have a day at most. Our spell is weakening. It's now or never."

'Agreed.'

Landing in an area that had the closest demonic signature. I felt my mouth starting to water at the meal, I could smell nearby.

Ever since the trial, I could feel the urge to devour. That Prime had long since been used to and fought against for Hikari's sake. It was as if my senses were turned up to a thousand, and the juiciest steak was sitting in front of me. Everything in my body wants to eat the steak, but I need to have the discipline to fight the urge.

As I walked through the plains, feeling the demonic energy moved with me. It wasn't hard to notice I was being watched. Even if I couldn't tell from where.

I knew that Melascula had the ability to open a gate, so it was most likely her. Using one of her gates to keep herself hidden while trying to find an opening.

'If she wants an opening, give her one. Her spell would be too tedious to break.'

Agreeing with Prime, I sat on the ground and closed my eyes. Completely dropping my guard. As I waited.

------------

Melascula POV:-

As I watched the strange man who seemed to appear out of nowhere, he walked through my miasma as if it was nothing. It put me on guard. The miasma I released originates from purgatory, so to survive it, someone has to have significant strength.

It doesn't seem they know of my presence. So, if I can wait for the right moment. I should be able to force their soul out and devour it.

... Why is he just sitting there? Is he sleeping? Or is this a trap? Does he know someone's watching him?

If it does end up being one, I could disappear into a portal. He shouldn't know of my abilities, so if he wants to set a trap... it would be rude of me not to spring it.

Appearing behind him with not a sound being made. I put my hand on his back and used my treasure spell, Soul Invitation, which allows the users to drag a soul from its body.

As I felt the soul leaving its body, I could feel the overwhelming strength behind it. The soul is bright red, which is surprising for someone to have for they have to be the cause of many deaths to be this tainted.

"For one so young, you have killed many. I'm not even sure the Demon King has killed as many souls as you have." As I looked at the soul in my grasp, that gave off an air of domination.

As I opened my mouth wide, my long snake tongue went to wrap around the soul. My whole body gained a chill as something grabbed my arm.
