I know. Her main Pokémon is Fighting/Steel. There's literally no one else in the game to take this position, and it made sense due to Korrina's Lucario.

A more accurate reading of Aya would be that she is arrogant the same way that someone that has a natural talent could become if they rise at the level of skill and social power Aya has. The second impression is actually not wrong: her relationship with Lou WAS toxic and Laure's meddling caused a lot of damage, which caused her already haughty behavior to become straight malicious at times. Lou was the first person she truly fell in love with, and the way it went left a bad taste in her mouth. It was clearly shown that she is still very angry about it. Aya is really kind and supportive with people she likes, even so with people she loves (going all the way to get a super powerful for Lou), but she tends to act differently with people she doesn't know. Clem's case is special, because of her relationship with Pixie. Learning that Clem was Pixie's trainer also changed her behavior and she could get more "personal" because of her "relationship" with Pixie. Aya is polite and distant with strangers, but acts according to how she likes someone or not to someone she knows or is related to someone she knows. In that case, Clem and Pixie. She doesn't really like Pixie, so it transfer to her looking down on Clem. Aya IS a complicated character, but she CAN be a bitch, or even straight malicious.
