Electrical tape is one of the most brutal tape types for gags. It's got a lot of stretch so when you wrap it it squeezes down super hard.

That's also part of it, it's usually pretty narrow so it has to be wrapped lots of times = more tightness. You can get it in wider rolls, though. I have one that's 4''.
