Helmets, a History of Head Protection in F1

If you're going to stick your noggin out of a fast moving vehicle you should at least stick in in something protective! Here we have a look at the long history of head protection in F1, from cloth caps used in the 20s, to the near-bullet and crush proof space age technology we have today. With the introduction of the FIA's new helmet standard next year, we see why we should be glad that the new helmets are better than ever! ------------------ Please do support these videos on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/chainbearf1 Twitter: http://twitter.com/chainbearf1 Writing / Illustration / Animation / Editing / Narration: Stuart Taylor http://www.chainbear.me sharecode: chainbearsharef1

I was waiting for this video quite a long time. Excellent information. I am very surprised to see that 275G peak deceleration. Wondering what drivers experience in practice/reality, 10G to 20G?

Love the video. You might want to rerender the video for the full release though, as there seems to be a little video hiccup/glitch around 6:07-6:08
