I'm struggling to come up with a good title for this video, but this video explores how F1's need to require constant freedom of innovation and development leads it into all sorts of problems - not least: bad racing.

Here we look at how F1 tries to mitigate this problem through the regulations and how difficult trying to control the side effects of unrelenting development really is.

More of a short video essay, this. I hope you like it. I struggled with it and had to toss the original script in the bin!

There is a battle at the heart of Formula 1. Its need to allow engineers to constantly innovate and push design and technology can stifle good racing and many of the values that make F1 great. How does Formula one balance this, keeping everything in check while keeping the spirit of innovation alive? Measuring the dirty air effect behind the care could be potentially interesting... Designers could try to channel dirty air into the expected overtaking position of an approaching car, leading to more Ricciardo/Verstappen crunches undoubtedly.
