Here's the first of three (probably) videos on aerodynamics that sets up everything we need to know to understand all the complex aero-manipulative designs in F1.

Let me know what you think of this one - I was a bit concerned it wasn't F1 enough but I think this is an important video to understand everything else that follows!

F1 Aerodynamics - 1: The Basics

Aerodynamics is a complicated topic and will take a few videos to cover. Here we look at the very basic elements of aerodynamics: - the effects of pressure - air flow - balance of forces - how to manipulate air

Very nice video, easy to understand. I like the theory stuff, it brings so much more understanding to the sport. Funny how the wing of an F1 car is an inverted aircraft wing, with the forces acting similarly but upside down. Compared to an aircraft where the wings produces lift instead of downforce.

Thanks! And yes the shape of the wing is very much just a mirror of an aeroplane wing but we'll soon see that a completely flat wing could work too :)

Not to be a negative nancy but i would rather you explain stuff that i cant find in a text book. Great video as always, except the subject.

I understand that and this video will be a segue into the more specific stuff - just need to get everyone to the same point
