Very nice tag at the end, with a valid point- how the heck did the pros screw up badly enough to allow several platoons of villains into a secure area? I’m thinking this might be looking like an inside job, but maybe coming across some pros fighting it out with the villains will help flesh out the overall situation.

Where the heck are they finding these guys? Some of them aren't too impressive but one of them is literally a Death Note. Even in a world of Quirks, that's an A or S tier ability.

I hope the end tag is a lead-in to showing what is happening to the pros next chapter. I think that showing the gruesome deaths and escaping by hair's breath of the rest of the teams will lessen the impact that you're going for due to overexposure. Three to four more chapters of action and then an aftermath chapter would be a good amount for me.

I think since shiggy was laid out, all for one is the one calling the shots on who to send instead of shiggy getting the barrel of laughs he could grab. Its like giving him a budget and seeing what he could do with it but since no shiggy trying to learn and impress afo their was no reason for afo to send a bunch of scrubs.

This whole arc seems like a drastic turn into grimdark from how the story started. I'm not a big fan.

So at least 5 dead, that’s 1/8th of the starting number of students. And dropping. And that’s from the 16 students shown so far, so technically the death rate from onscreen hero student characters is 1/3. I wonder if Bakugo or Izuku will bite it. Maybe Todoroki and his brother have a fight to the death. Regardless if those 2 fight there is a decent chance people will die in the AoE splash zone. Dark Shadow is probably another wildcard that is a lot stronger once civility is thrown to the wind. The guy who talks to animals is close to useless right now since more than once it was mentioned that there is complete silence before the attack, that might have extended to insects too. If so he is a massive liability. On the flip-side if the glue dude is on the same team as Jiro they would have advanced warning on the ambush and they could set up some decent fortifications and hope the enemies don’t hard counter his glue. Navel laser is probably going to have a breakdown, specially if the bad guys attack him with lethal intent. Might get offed.

It was foreshadowed that at least one of the 3(?) hired groups might be working for the bad guys with how they were asking about the schedule of the students at the end of camp in what seemed like them wanting to give a sales pitch to them. And the pussycats dropped the ball by telling them when they were specifically told not to share info. The pussycats are in some deep shit since I can already see the headlines “Pussycats drug poor Hero students and leave them in the woods to die”.

Zerak

It is mentioned in the chapter that some of them are hired to do this, like it’s another Tuesday doing dirty work for money. Idk if the ones who attacked in canon were hired or were just recruited into the whole league thing for room and board.

The GrandMage

That kind of death toll is going to heavily change the plot. I wonder how many of the surviving students will be pulled by their parents?

JohnJohn2195

if i remember right shiggy used stains speech to work for him and giran found his superfans with spinner and toga who would fit with recruiting. thinking about that back when they grabbed stain who knows if theyd make a nomu with him and send it here too.

Shigaraki treated it as a videogame, hiring the Named Characters that showed up to be recruited into his party. Inugami, meanwhile, is much more... professional, as we saw from his appearance with Stain, and has access to a lot more of AfO's resources than Shigaraki, who was in a 'learn by figuring things out' situation, did. Also, Sho Ichi's power had a lot of limitations on it (hear his voice, line of sight, full name, etc.) that weaken it, but that also could've made him a Pro if he'd taken a different path in life.

PublicLee Speaking

Well, there were complaints that the cast was getting bloated! /s That said, this was the plan since the Sports Festival.

Interesting to see. Am obviously concerned for the best girl (🐸), but sacrifices have to be made for storytime. Am excited for the next few chapters, from the perspective of the adult heroes/villains, then to the aftermath of the attack, and beyond.

Big ToFu

The plot just massively changed because things just escalated from 23 to 100 real quick.

MagisterdeVita

How could you! You killed Captain diabetes and discount Spider-Man.... You monster! Jokes aside, interesting chapter. It's cool to see a bit of fight or flight mode going on. Though I personally hope it doesn't go on for too much longer. I mean how that it was the trial by fire. But I'm looking more toward the aftermath and bringing the pieces back together that an event like this will have. So I hope not to see too many more on screen children death.

Gamestructo Utopiaman

Is the toxic exoskeleton a callback to the villain group hiding in the mountain in Abaddon Borne? They too had a toxic exoskeleton power if memory serves

PublicLee Speaking

Yep! I'm coming up with a lot of original powers for the Villains, so there's expies from other stories among them.

I like the sudden jump to serious content after quite a few chapters without but don’t go full grim dark. The students are dropping like flies now and without them you don’t have a story, along with the villains consistently winning the strategic victories. After this there needs to be a serious win for the good guys if nothing else just to make this interesting or else it just falls into the trap of omniscient bad guys. After this Denki needs to stop holding back, maybe truly heal All Might or something, kill some of the major bad guys and set them back hard or something similar. I look forward to the next chapters and I truly want to see Eraserhead and the Pussy Cats shine. Hopefully they don’t die.

KunouNoHana

I dislike the sudden jump to serious content. I will second the "don't go full grimdark," but I'm afraid you're already there. If you don't pull back on the reins HARD this story is going to land in a death spiral.

Empty Shelf

Parents pulling their kids from the program implies that there is a program left to pull them from. We can reasonably expect the casualty figures to double, but even if it were 'just' 5 dead kids, that would be the death knell for UA. Maybe, if they perform a clean sweep of the League, they could eventually recover from this after a few years, but the longer the villains remain at large the more likely it is to remain permanent.

JohnJohn2195

i wanna see eraserhead and adult heroes reactions too especially since they should have some mud creatures camera feed going somewhere. the grim dark stuff does suck that its happening but from all the shounen stuff happening I think it brings it all back to how serious the job is and that denki was right to have his paranoia and theirs no plot armor to protect them. rip some of the characters i wish had a chance.

NTLuck

I'm getting the feeling that by the end of this arc, there won't be enough students for two classes. Planning to combine both classes A and B? I guess it works in making the extra characters more relevant. MHA is cursed with a lot of interesting side characters that had potential but simply become irrelevant to the plot. Though it sucks for Denki that you're killing the cute girls as well lol. I don't mind. Gender equality at its finest :)
