Hello everyone!

I'm happy to announce, that Holiday Island will finally get some sound!

It will start with some background music for the different locations in one of the next versions. Maybe already in the next version 0.1.5.2 :)

After that more background music will follow for some of the more special scenes.
Then some basic sounds like opening doors and bird noises outside will follow.

The background music will be named in a way that you will easily know what is what and the sound files will not be packed into an archive. So if you like, you can easily replace them with your own sounds if you like.

Future plans also include the possibility to change the background sound in a scene with a mouse click and to randomly select from a bunch of different files, so you won't always have to hear the same stuff.

I'd love to read what you think about it!

Take care,
Darkhound

Sounds interesting. Will there be volume controls? For background vs scene-specific audio? Either way, I think the ability to swap out our own audio is an amazing feature! :D

Will there be a "boom chicka wow wow" soundtrack? :)

Yes there will be volume controls - it comes with renpy :) There are three build in channels, I will use one to start with (for bg music) and then use another one for the sfx sound effects and overlays.

Sounds cool, didn´t expect it, atleast not so soon. :)

Nice. I like some UI click sound. When you say "sfx sounds", are you talking about the player effects like erection etc ?

The only problem I have with music based on location is you change location so often that the game is just going to be switching tracks constantly, which does not make for an enjoyable experience. Hopefully you have something that works around that.

How can you need more than this playing in the background as you play? https://youtu.be/KNZVzIfJlY4

I would say that if you'd like to use background music, then something soft that plays across every scene (maybe changing based on time of day, but still similar in tone) would be better. Then use atmospheric sfx (gentle waves for beach, glasses clinking for the bar, subtle machines beeping for the doctors room, etc.) to differentiate the locations instead of potentially jarring changes in music. But glad to hear it's going to no longer be so quiet anymore.

I had wondered if the fact that there was no music or sound was just a personal choice on your part. The game is absolutely wonderful without any sound, but I'm looking forward to the additions.

I like the idea of ambient sound. Especially at the beach. Also sproingy sound fx for when the MC gets a boner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4c4BBYiYjo

I like the idea. Good sound FX and music really add to a game!

Haha, no, more like ambient music that hopefully doesn't get on ones nerves too soon.

UI click sounds? Ummm... That's always the first thing I disable on my mobile. I think it's annoying :D The game won't be turned into some asian beep beep thingy. Sfx includes the following right now: - rolling waves at the beach - some water splashing sounds at the pool - some machine humming at the doctor - knocking on the door - showering sounds - reception bell sound (couldn't resist) - pouring wine into a glass And lot's of background/ambient music tracks. That's about it right now. More will follow later.

Don't worry about it. It was just a starting point and I have changed it already. In most of the locations the bg music will not change. There are some exceptions. Spa/massage and nightbar get other bg/ambient music. The other locations will have additonal sfx sound overlay. - rolling waved at the beach - some walking aroung and weight lifting at the gym (if you are not alone) - water sounds at the pool - machine humming at the doctor

Thank you. As with everything else. Adding music and sound effects take a lot of time. I've spend more than 30 hours on it already.

darkhound1

Sorry, but that's just not my style. No squeeky unnecessary bing bing sounds like in an asian game or one from the 80s. if something doesn't make a noise in reality, it won't make a noise in the game.

Wow ! Finally. It's here. I love to play games with Background Music and it's here in My favorite adult game Holiday Island, I'm waiting for that version's release : P

Can't really go wrong with Steel Drum music in a tropical island setting. https://youtu.be/GaNjXwElAUE
