It turns out that there was a flaw in the drones' programming. They only attack and assimilate organic life, however anorganic beings were completely ignored.

This means that robots such as Curly Brace can easily immobilize and interrogate the latex-clad drones without any danger of assimilation.

While the mastermind behind the attacks cannot be tracked using this method, other drones can be found and neutralized before the drones overwhelm the population through their sheer numbers.
