What Should I Teach Next?! (Patreon)
Content
Hey folks! As always, thank you so much for supporting the channel! I've got a lot going on over the next couple months, but in the meantime I've got a few new games to vote on for the next Patreon-backed tutorial. These were suggested by our Rules Lawyers, so let's see what's on the list.
Brass Birmingham: Coming in at a very close 2nd place in the last poll, Brass earned a guaranteed spot in the new one! This dark and gloomy looking economic game, set in industrial era England, boasts a very devoted fanbase, and there's no question as to why. It's just that good! While the gameplay is a bit dense, the strategy involved is extremely engaging. It makes for a difficult teach, but I imagine that's why an RTFM video would be so helpful.
Sidereal Confluence: This perennial Rules Lawyer favorite is back again, and this time with the most votes in the suggestions post! You may know of Sidereal Confluence (or Siderule Cornflakes as it is sometimes called) by its reputation for being strange, massive, and complicated, or maybe because the aliens in it have nigh-unpronounceable names. Either way, this is a trading and negotiation game for 4-9 players, and while getting 9 people to play a single board game was difficult even before the pandemic, it's definitely something I'm clamoring for now that I can see people again.
Food Chain Magnate: While this game's visual style might have you thinking it's as simple as monopoly, FCM is notorious for being a complex market manipulation game. It's also one that I've been fascinated by for a long time, but have never gotten the chance to play. There's also the Ketchup expansion, which is possible the best named expansion I've ever heard of, so I'd love to cover that as well.
Arkham Horror - The Card Game: There were a lot of games tied for second in the suggestions post, so my Editor's Choice is going to one of those that holds a special place in my heart. I've always been a fan of the Arkham line of games, and this LCG is no exception. There's a newly updated core set, but the true joy comes from picking up a few expansions and enhancing your character with new cards and abilities.
As a reminder of how it all works: vote for as many as you like. The top choice will be my next tutorial, 2nd place will earn a guaranteed spot in the polls next time, the rest will be tossed to the wolves. The poll will end in three weeks and I'll announce the winner in the next newsletter.
