Hey folks, I'm usually a few days late with these posts but this is still a bit farther out than I prefer. Despite the header image it has most certainly not been a quiet year (though I quite enjoyed this cartography-based RPG). The holidays have been an especially busy time for me this time around, but I managed to get the Anachrony video out before the end of the year, which I'm very happy about, so please check it out if you haven't done so already. I also want to welcome all of the new backers that have come in lately. Post holidays are a big boost for the channel so I want to thank everyone who has joined in as well as everyone who has stuck around.

PAX was a ton of fun and I played a lot of great games, but the surprise hit for me was this one: Moon Base. It's a Japanese game that doesn't seem to have an American distributor yet, which is a shame because I think it could do very well here. It's an abstract strategy/area control game about placing habitats (rings) on the moon. At the end of each round you want to have big rings matching your color completely open, which earns you points. However the opponent wants this as well and is likely to try and stack rings on top of yours. Meanwhile that big pink piece is moving around constantly, and while it blocks your efforts during the game, if you can control at the end, it'll score a lot of points for you. I really enjoyed the puzzle that this game presents, and on top of that, it just looks so interesting by the end. I would gladly play it again and I encourage all of you to do the same if you get a chance.

One of my favorite gaming experiences of the year happened just a couple weeks ago when I joined the Brothers Murph on their 24 hour stream, which ended with a game of Kitchen Rush played with kitchen utensils. That whisk on the table right there? MVP.

I also wanted to share this picture, which is what happens when you do a gift exchange with your Gloomhaven partner...

Speaking of, I got to meet Isaac Childres over at PAX, and while I certainly can't confirm anything about Frosthaven (besides how cool it looks), I am going to try and secure some kind of RTFM involvement, even if it means just getting a copy when it releases. In the meantime, Happy New Year all! I have a feeling that, at least with regards to board gaming, this year is going to be a good one.
