Hello all of you beautiful people! As I'm sure you've noticed, the Terraforming Mars and expansion videos are up, as is the Middara video, which means that my workload is finally going to go from way too much to just barely too much. In the meantime, I want to talk a little more about Terraforming, because it's fascinating! First off I want to share a little behind the scenes video from the expansion shoot. We were about to film the bit about Venus Next and Nick, who was behind the camera, asked a question which got me on a tangent about the viability of colonizing Venus versus Mars. This might be narrowcasting a little bit, but if that sounds interesting to you, I decided to make it available to watch (warning: swears).

Small disclaimer: I am not a scientist, so I'm sure that at least some of what I say in this video is wrong. If you want more scientifically accurate info, I highly recommend this compilation video from SciShow Space that goes into what it would actually take to live on Mars.

If you prefer your science a little more fiction-y, I was just sent this great series of articles presenting the solar system as a fully terraformed, sightseeing tour at various points in our hypothetical future. The science is more speculative and less concerned with the nitty-gritty, but it's a fun read.

And lastly, I end up reading a lot of great twitter threads from scientists and always forget to save them, but not this time. Professor Sarah Hörst wrote this great piece on Titan and why we need to go back there and check it out because it's just so dang weird.

Oh yeah, and board game-wise, uh...I played Feast for Odin and The Quest for El Dorado for the first time. They're good.

Bye!

The whole terraforming discussion is great; my introduction to it was an excellent SciFi trilogy from Kim Stanley Robinson: Red Mars, Green Mars, and Blue Mars. It has the science-y part of it covered as well as the political ramifications. I highly recommend them.

Thanks! You know, that's the second time someone has recommended that series to me lately. Might just have to check it out.
