Honestly. I get that Connie is upset but she's also wrong too. They were fighting Aquamarine and Topaz and losing badly. The gems had formed Alexandrite and Aquamarine's little ribbonwand disabled her like a joke. Stevonnie would not have fared better, imo Steven made the only logical decision at the time to save as many people as he could. They're trying to save the world, to save lives; that means that sometime ya experience events that you'll be totally caught off guard by that your training wont be enough for, so tough decisions have to be made. Again I get that she's hurt and upset and probably feels like Steven just wrote her off but unless she can offer an actual plan for how they could have won then she just seems... petty.

I agree with AniTier's impression and understanding of Connie's reaction. Not saying she's completely right, but I totally get it, and I don't think Connie was petty. Rather, she was afraid and hurt by thinking Steven was going to die and was probably going through the biggest scare of her life about that for days. She's also like thirteen by this point and this was probably her first real punch in the gut and her having to confront the very real possibility that Steven will die... not might die, but it seemed almost like a sure thing here. It's also pretty clear that although Connie took up sword fighting because she was interested in it and had a vested interested in helping protect the Earth, she really did it to learn how to be there for Steven, so he wouldn't have to fight alone. It came from her heart and fear of Steven being killed one day. Then when Connie was buying into that whole "you are nothing" philosophy Pearl was instilling in her, it was Steven who was the one who made a promise... a vow, to always tackle things with Connie. It's akin to child fighter version of a marital vow. Then, he did something that would have almost guaranteed his death. Let's be frank, Steven got really lucky to have survived that and found a way off Homeworld. Not saying Steven wasn't right to make the call that he did, given the stress and danger, but I don' t believe it truly was the only option. In the end, this is a situation where making what one feels is the "right" decision can still leave real pain and hurt.

I see what you're saying but what other action could they have taken given the situation they found themselves in? Aquamarine's wand alone seemed a greater weapon than any the gems might be able to use. To me it feels like she's punishing Steven for making the only call that had a hope of letting everyone else live. Don't forget that he didn't make that choice lightly either. Since the beginning of this series Steven has felt that he had to live up to the legacy of his mother which was compounded by the feelings of inadequacy he felt by not being on her level and the general sense of guilt for being the reason she's gone. A part of that is also a misplaced feeling of responsibility for the "crimes" she's committed that he and everyone around him have to deal with the fallout for. You said that Steven got lucky? I don't think that he really intended to come back at all, this is a child soldier with such an immense feeling of guilt for things that weren't his fault and others that were indirectly, that he actually was of the mind that giving up his freedom/life was the only way to atone for the sins of him and his mother while letting the Earth and his friends be safe. If anything Steven needs more consideration than Connie does, or at the very least needs more help dealing with things. I'm not saying that she doesn't have a right to feel hurt, but her leaving like that, ignoring him like that and taking Lion with her is incredibly messed up.
