"Princess" 🎃 Halloween Monsters and Maidens No.1 (Patreon)
Content
I think "Princess" is going to be one of my favorite monsters in the series, but I have to admit, it was probably the hardest and most stressful monster yet!
As you probably know by now, I try to finish painting each monster in 5 hours or less. I have actually succeeded a few times now, and really felt like I was going to do so on this one as well. 2 hours in, it was turning out AMAZING and I was already planning out my Nobel Prize acceptance speech because I knew it was going to be earth-shattering and would blow everyone away.
Then Photoshop crashed. ....And I hadn't saved.
Anyone who has ever experienced this knows that very peculiar mix of rage and despair that borders on a Here's Johnny madness. It is truly horrible.
I have auto-backups on, but somehow I still lost an hour and a half of work. While losing the time was of course a nightmare, the truly horrific part is the mental anguish of never being quite sure I was ever able to recapture what was lost. Even 5 hours in, when I KNEW I had a better image put together, I found myself still scoured the details with squinted, watering eyes looking for what I had lost. I had become the deranged creature in my painting.
Photoshop crashes are thankfully quite rare these days. (I have to hand it to Adobe that CC on that one.) It RARELY goes down. This was in fact, the first time in 2019. But ahhh ... I think I will need to go back to my trusty old pencils for a few days to recover. Those never betray me. (Well, so long as I keep everything out of my toddlers hands)
So we're starting off the month at the bottom, we can only go up from here!
