Bebop as a live action could have worked. Hell, it could have been truly amazing for everyone, provided it had the right people behind the camera more so than in front. It’s genuinely sad that isn’t the case here. Each week I watch along with the crew hoping the show gets better, and it simply doesn’t. Now I wasn’t looking for some shot for shot remake, which seems to be a weak straw man argument that’s going around lately. But a show that was drafted almost as an anthology, with a consistent melancholy tone, revolving around nuanced and layered characters, with high visual appeal (pulling inspiration from classic noir as well as the great auteurs of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s) and well handled show/imply-not-tell writing is clearly setting a high bar regardless of how well the material lends itself to a live action adaption. I wanted something that strove (even if it came up short) for that high bar. Not something that played it safe. Instead… we got a show that has some of the music and cosmetics, with none of the charm or wisdom or heart or visual appeal. Something very grindhouse and kitsch and not at all like it’s namesake. Why even use the name aside from taking advantage of a huge built in fan base? Beats me. Netflix and the creators of the adaptation could easily have made an ‘original’ show, less shackled by the confines of being an ‘adaptation’ that would have likely been received much better because it wouldn’t suffer from a split personality. It would have known what it was and people would have enjoyed something… different. But they slapped the Bebop name and music and some of the cosmetics on there to bring in that name recognition, because even controversy sells. It’s blatant and disappointing.

MOST INSANE EPISODE OF LUCIFER 🤣🤣🤣 its definately a great series and im alr really missing it

This episode of Lucifer is even better on the re-watch when you spot all the easter eggs from their previous cases and time together. The ones that I spotted are: Dan wakes up naked: Maze knocked him out and left him naked at Chloe's house in S1 A girl escaping right under Dan's nose - season 3 bonus episode The head in the box - in season 2 there was a box delivered to Daniel with a severed head the russian mob - Lucifer and Dan went to the bath-house together and later Maze and Dan set a guy up to get taken by the russian mob The dog - in season 3 Luci and Dan worked a case together with an award winning dog The whole "how do I look?" "Pretty good actually" part. This is the exact same dialogue (only with a role reversal) from season 1 when Dan rushes to Lux to save Luci from Malcom The poison - when Chloe got injected with a poison and the whole team worked together to find the antidote The celebratory pudding fountain at the end - pretty obvious. Dan loves pudding! The improv group - Dan and Luci had their first real heart-to-heart after improv in season 2 Maze throwing herself in front of Dan like Charlotte did to protect Amanadiel in s3 The role of the Bookkeeper - in s1 Dan came to check on Lucifer's books for the club (and got knocked out by Maze) The truck crashed into the car from the same side as with Chloe's car in s2 Those are the ones that come to my head right now. But there are probably more that I just can't think of right now. This is definitely one of my favorite episodes (and my most ever re-watched episode of Lucifer).

I'm watching season 5 of Lucifer week to week with the crew so everything is new to me. Probably my favorite episode of Lucifer thus far. Netflix taking over the Lucifer property was the best thing for the show.
