Due to it being an extended final season I could see him being alive, but most likely he's dead.

I'm saying alive just because for this show, it's almost too easy/obvious for him to be dead.

I feel Alden will survive and the reapers might kill Gabriel instead, especially since they seem to have a heavy connection to religion, and it would be fitting for his character. Either way it would suck.
