It was unexpected but still makes sense

John M

Unexpected, but welcome. I’m kind of glad this isn’t a typical Superman vs Lex Luthor story as this open’s a lot of potential moving forward. This feels like a kind of soft-reboot of the Arrowverse and I love it. Though I do hope we get Jon Cryer on here at some point in a future season (just a bit more nuanced than he currently is on Supergirl).

Gavin Mcfadden

Best way to bring Steel in an interesting way

Joel

I'm surprised that I like this twist, as opposed to Iron Man 3 "The Mandarin"

Hunter R.

It feels like it would make people have an open mind about him switching to the good side to fight edge. And with this they can make more stories with it. Also, I feel soooo bad for Jonathan. He can't get a break!

Yil

I like it, a new Luthor wanting to kill Superman is just an old Luthor, this way we get a different character and a different story.

SpeedyCat19

I've never seen a poll so one-sided 😂😂

I liked it gives a fresh take on superman

Ethan Prendergast

I like it, changing up the villain, keeps it fresh for me. I feel like Superman always ends up against Luthor or Zod so hopefully this offers something different going forward

Doby Greg

Being a weapon builder, the "death" of good superman making him who he is, using a legacy name for his mission. Many things become clever references to the comics once it happen & I loved it. And Lois did marry a superman. Loved it

Christian Bolda

I love it because it’s so cool to see that character in live action again considering the last time he was in live action he was in a very very bad movie so I was super hyped

Deadpool

I am unfamiliar with the steel character so I didn’t even recognize the “twist” until ur reaction but I like it because I get to experience a new superman villian instead of it just being another Lex Luther story.

Deadpool

& I wanna add that it makes the episode title “Man Of Steel” sooooooo clever

I love the twist it was done amazingly and we get to see Steel in live action rather than another version of luthor

Cal

I like it but I was also cheering for the possibility of a good Lex and Superman team up (kinda Smallville-ish). Although I am appreciative that this allows Steel to be more in the public consciousness. He hasn’t gotten enough love in my opinion.

I didn’t know who Steel was before this but I genuinely liked the twist. I liked that the show told me who I should think the character was, added some twists with his marriage to Lois and revealed their daughter, made me empathize for who I thought was lex Luthor, only to then surprised me with a completely different character. I thought it was crafted very well and find myself sitting on the edge of my seat every episode, waiting for my expectations to be subverted once more.

Question for you guys. Do you guys think Johnathan is going to get powers via the x kryptonite? Also, Eric do you think Jordan has the potential to be stronger than superman? Like is it a half sayian deal where half -sayians have the potential to surpass full sayians?

I Am Groot

it would be hardcore if they redeemed the “antagonist” version of Steel

rickie woodson

i have a third option: meh. the twist wasnt needed. could have just had him be john, we find out he was married to loiis and have a kid THAT be the twist. like i dont get the point of the fake out. i wasnt going "oh cool" i was going "im confused. huh? what? why? but they call him luthor. WHAT?:" i and making natasha (his niece int he comics) him and lois' daughter is also a twist. TOO MUCH TWISTING THIS IS A ROLLERCOASTER AND I WANT OFF!

MarkIsDaBoss

I love it! If it was another Arrowverse show, they probably would've done it the way we expected: For it to just be a villain from another Earth with no crazy expected twists whatsoever. This show did a good job though, because a lot of people didn't see that coming at all. Side note: This poll is so one-sided, it may as well just be a statement.

It's great. I was fine with a luthor but that has been done so much in comics and movies etc, I am happy for a new lesser known character, who is depicted as a hero in everything else

Ian Vega

I loved it! Didn't see it coming whatsoever, and I've only seen Steel done well in animation. Never would have thought they'd bring Steel back into live action after the 97 movie with Shaq lol but boy... what an improvement!

Chaos T

I like it and hopefully this version of Steel will make people forget about the Shaq version.

Reece Hart

It was so well written. I don't think anyone saw it coming and everyone had just accepted he was a different Earth's Luthor.

Prince of Za Waurdo Over Salmon

I really enjoyed it however it feels kinda pointless story wise for the audience to think he was lex for the first 7 episodes only to reveal in the same episode that the characters start to think he is lex only to find out he isn’t but I’m glad they didn’t drag out the reveal for no reason more than this nitpick

CommanderL

I would love it Half sayians had higher potential but slower growth.

CommanderL

I think it works, with Luthor even a multiversial version of luthor there comes with expections by making him into someone else it sort of free's him from those expectations to do his own thing Luthor is always supermans enemy so if he stayed a luthor and became a reoccurying charcter in the back of your mind there would also be he is a luthor and you would always wait for the shoe to drop and him to revert back to luthorisms

Jeanette C

I like it. I don't know anything about this character, but I'm excited to see a new villain besides Lex in a Superman story. I think it works because we're so used to expecting a Luthor to be opposing Superman.

Chris D. Jones

I liked the Luther from another universe but the Steel twist was so much better. He is one of my favorite characters from Superman comics (basically black iron man). I love the show hid his identity from comic book nerds by callings his daughter nat bug instead of Natalie. Which is the name of Steel’s niece who I hope will have a bigger part in the show

Anonymous

Not exactly for them to call him Luther is explained even later on the AI they were working on was set to Lex Luther and easier way for him to hide his true identity

Anonymous

While I am not upset by the twist, I honestly would have preferred he stay a Luther. We could have potentially had this universe's Lex working with him. It could have been interesting to see the two of them interact with each other. Sharing tech and plans to destroy Superman. Also I just want to see Jon Cryer with the writing of this show.

Angus Whitehead

I like how it turned out, I am one of the few people who who didn't know who he was as I haven't seen steel. Thank you for assisting in keeping your fan base informed. This twist also means that Jon Cryer has a chance of showing up in this show, I think he is one of the best portrayals of the character.
