Do you think Montrose's actions are of his own free will or is he being ordered or controlled somehow?

Chris D. Jones

His motive is good he wants to protect his son but he’s acting outta fear making him do dumb shit.

Joel

Man I was starting to like him, doubt he's following anyone's orders

His actions don’t seem to serve anyone else but his want to “protect“ Tic. I thought about it and changed my mind. He could be controlled to stop Tic from gaining power.

Since we've heard about time travel, and you guys brought up the guy that comes and saves them with the bat...what if Montrose in the past sees his son die, so now is trying to correct it? (if you read the book, dont you dare say anything)

at the beginning of the ep when he burns the book he says "smells like Tulsa" in a weird echoey voice that's why i think he is possessed

Montrose said Tic wouldn't stop. I think he's just trying to keep his son from digging deeper and keeping him safe.

I think Montrose has seen more than what he’s letting on which has scared him into protecting his ‘son’.

So your comment comes from you having read the book? or just don't want your theory to be confirmed or negated by the ones that have?

Sharrod Wolf

I think he knows something that has yet to be revealed

I voted for Free Will, but I'm not sure its that simple. I think he did it to protect Tic all on his own, but something compelled him to do it in secret.

I don't see at which point anyone could have stepped in and ordered/controlled Montrose in any way. Feels like the bookburning was his own free will and why would they use an alcoholic, must be a better option for anyone trying to stop Tic. After the trip seems most likely for anyone to talk to Montrose but it could not have been much more than a day since they came back.

We still don’t know what happened when he was missing. I believe he was offered some kind of deal (maybe they promised they’d bring his wife back), because his mourning scene for George felt laced with guilt not just grief. But it’s so hard to predict something’s in the show.

Do y’all think Christina time traveled and was actually listening to Rihanna?
