Jeroz Avlesair

Things the writer expected you to know coming into this story which I won't spoil: The outcome of this HGW The nature of the HGW The truth of the HGW The 3 main families and their descendants and a few other characters The whole magic system What Heavens Feel is You with me? Now let's sit back and enjoy the rest of the show

Question: I saw Stay Night (original) but havent seen Unlimited because I think the first half is the same and as far as I can tell the better animation is the main reason people prefer it. Is the different story worth watching?

Ryoma Nagare

I can't wait to see their reaction to Caster next week.

cody skater

unlimited blade works diverges from the original stay night story line extremely early. and the original was a shitty mix of all 3 routes slapped together. it's 100% worth watching.

Shad Ow

can you imagine their confusion next ep when they find out about the trickery of dick mage supreme

Anonymous

If it's the first episode of the show, don't we get 2 in a row? Or am I mis-remembering?

João Pedro Dâmaso

Only when its not taking the place of another show, since this is taking Steins; Gate place they are uploading Steins; Gate today for non patreons :D

Chan

Haven't watched it yet, but am waiting for them to point out the ridiculous walking-in-a-circle scene haha!

So just some quick reclarification for anyone who doesn't know. "Fate/stay night" (commonly abbreviated to FSN) was originally a visual novel released in 2004 with 3 main routes and a variety of good and bad endings. Those 3 Routes are known as the "Fate", "Unlimited Blades Works" and "Heaven's Feel" routes, each of which had a different main love interest for the protagonist Shirou Emiya (or Emiya Shirou by Japanese naming conventions). The game makes you play through the "Fate" route first, then "Unlimited Blade Works" and finally "Heaven's Feel" last, and with each route you would learn more information about the world that FSN takes place in, character motivations and ect. that aren't mentioned in other routes. The 2006 FSN anime mostly follows the "Fate Route", but for some reason instead of following it faithfully they threw in loads of stuff from the other two routes that you would play through after making it a bit of a mess that you're probably better off not watching. The "FSN: Unlimited Blade Works" anime series is an adaptation of the "Unlimited Blade Works" route and while it starts off similarly to the 2006 anime, the major events of the anime are very different to 2006, aside from the stuff 2006 stole from UBW. In the game, characters from FSN would vaguely refer back to the 4th Holy Grail war, mentioning things like who won, and some other people who took part in it, but again, they intentionally did not go into too much detail for a variety of reasons related to the characters themselves. In 2005, a Light Novel series began to be released called "Fate/Zero" (abbreviated to FZ) which went into detail about the events of the 4th Holy Grail war in far more depth than FSN did. However, it does so with the belief that you have already played the game and no a number of details in advance, and as such is completely unafraid to spoil things from FSN routes, mostly for "Heavens Feel" and "Fate" with "Unlimited Blade Works" beings spoiled the least out of the three. To put it simply, FZ is a prequel to FSN. While it happens first chronologically, it was originally meant to be viewed afterwards because since it has spoilers for FSN, not the other way around. FSN originally came out in '04, FZ started in '05 and ended in '07. However, that doesn't mean you can't watch FZ first. It's how I personally got into the franchise, it just means that some big revelations in FSN will feel like "well I already knew about that" moments. Honestly watching FZ first is probably the better thing to do (even if some fans may kill me for saying so) since FSN hasn't received a full proper anime adaptation yet. The "Fate route" adaptation was unfaithful, the "Unlimited Blade Works" adaptation is better but honestly not perfect, and the "Heaven's Feel" adaptation (consisting of 3 films) has not been finished yet. And at the end of the day, none of the adaptations will ever be perfect because a huge part of the original FSN game was the protagonist's near-constant inner monologue, something that is not present in the anime because of time constraints and the difference in the formats of a Visual Novel and an Anime. Hopefully that should clear things up for anyone who is confused TL;DR, Fate/Zero is a prequel to a game with 3 diverging paths with spoilers for all 3 of those paths in the games. It can still be enjoyed before Fate/stay night, but you go into it without some information you were meant to know beforehand, and will go into Fate/stay night afterwards with information you shouldn't have known beforehand. Have fun watching it :P

Brandon Hughes

Never seen this show. But I sure as hell know Matthew Mercer and Liam O Brian’s voices when I hear them! I really with there was a way they could watch critical role! But it seems impossible.

Why that scene is actual genius: https://youtu.be/efJ3fmm98ww

I'm upgrading my subscription to full length. This show is fucking amazing!

Mr. Big Stuff

Good pick... the first episode is like going to a lecture hall. You best take notes to learn all you can. It gets a little easier to understand in episode 2 and Beyond

Able

One day Samurai Champloo will win, one day...

TAP

I'm happy for all the people that have been wanting them to watch this show, It's just a little sad they couldn't finish the stein's gate loop while it's still fresh on their minds. Just my thoughts on the matter, no hate, I've never seen this show so maybe I'll love it and end up watching all of it ahead of them.

Queef Burglar

The shows I vote for never win

As someone who watched Fate/Zero first with only basic knowledge of the Fate series: it's confusing at first but you'll get the hang of it. Enjoy this series, and also the soundtrack which is absolutely fantastic.

AustinMyB

Rider will be their favorite character

Carl

wheres naruto

SNP

just wait. there still half day left

Anonymous

Crispin Freeman is always a treat to listen! ❤️

Sam h

Rider will be their ray of light in this depressing violent world lol

Anonymous

If Rick could handle making a character key with profile pics like they did with Attack on Titan for just the human characters I'm sure that would help a ton going forward, since he has the most circumstantial knowledge at this point.

Anonymous

Someone tell Rick that Tohsaka is voiced by the same English actor as Guts

Alpha12321

"king arthurs in this bitch", well yes literally

BlindFury21

Why isn’t it working for me?

Anonymous

I am hyped for this reaction series

Anonymous

I think they'll love this series, but will point out the one-dimentionality of the servant characters by the end. It's easy to get wowed by this series, but the guys are pretty good are delving past the surface level.

Anonymous

And after they finish this and UBW, they have to watch the Abridged version by Project Mouthwash

Bran Flakes

Maybe they should've started with Fate/Stay night

Anonymous

Will probably be a separate series and will have to win the poll

Anonymous

Holy fucking shit. I did not expect to see my native script in Japanese anime. Even though the text was absolute nonsense, it was still cool to see.

Erich Bomke

I’m taking everybodies word for it that the writing gets better because this episode was ass in terms of information and pacing. Maybe they are just ripping off the bandaid, I don’t know, never seen it, but I watch anything new with the boys so we will see where this goes.

Coco XLarge

It gets better, but this is the only Fate worth watching. The writing in all other series are ass.

Brandon Hughes

Yes because anything non action is of no importance. I get they can meander planning at times. But most is character stuff. But to each their own.

warui warui

one of the best intros to Fate. Really hype.

Zero

I’m so excited and Hyped for this!

k.lam

Yall dont need to be so reserved. This guy - https://youtu.be/TpTxgnkBB9Y saw through the episode on his first blind watch, understood the exposition, appreciated the story telling and had a 1hour discussion. If other people dont get it, its on them, dont need to tell them “it gets better”. It obviously does, but this episode was lit 👏🏼

Anonymous

The issue there is that they'd then know how this war ends.

Joe Smith

I would say Eric is pretty good at doing that, the other guys not so much

Rakoon Shampoo

Fate/Zero’s first episode isn’t hard to understand so that’s not really the worry. I think the real problem a lot of people have with the first episode is that it is not very streamlined. It’s also a story structure that can be a bit overwhelming at first. Fate/Zero has a main character, but it doesn’t really have a protagonist: that is to say, the main character, Kiritsugu, gets just about as much screen time (and has just as much relevance) as everyone else. So it can sometimes be a bit difficult to follow.

Johnny

Ahhhh so good!!!
