That's exactly what happened. They made this episode as the season finale, and also made it to be a possible series finale, then NBC ordered more episodes.

Season 4 might not be my favorite season all around, but man, Volkoff is by far my favorite antagonist of the entire series. He's a joy in all of his scenes, he has such a deep connection to the Bartowski family (Orion being a big part in taking him down was a nice cherry on top), and it was so satisfying to have Chuck flex his skills and beat him on every front.

Just honestly a tremendous episode. 10/10. Perfect. That music moment in the end (Jeffster and then Young Blood) is just mind bogglingly good. Volkoff is sensational as a villain. Ahhhh, what an episode.
